on the price of rewiring, what would typically be the Range of the price of a Point (socket, or switch)

which is the Full switch, the inside metal plate, the Switch,

I know this depends on the type, and quality of the switch.

but can you give some ranged per Re-fitting a Point, (socket/switch + Plate etc)

(minimum - maximum) ranges....of one point.

Why do you need to know?

You can work it out your self. Find out the cost of a back box, and switch. They vary in price from a budget brand to MK, more if you want then in chrome etc.

Also the cost per socket can vary. The more sockets you have the less per unit price it will be. However if you need to chase trough concrete ceilings or floors, this will a lot more expensive.

Maybe if you do some of the homework yourself, then come back her and ask other stuff.

We are currently getting a rewire, price varies between £50-£60 per point, no fun at all when they are trying to charge you £60 a socket for 80 sockets!

I actually have a question regarding this. Can i replace the old sockets we have in one room, with newer stainless steel ones that match the rest of our house? No installing new sockets in different positions, or anything like that. Just a straight swap. Am i allowed to just turn off the power to upstairs and do this myself, or do i legally need to get a registered electrician to do it?

Yes. Just do it yourself. Its a like for like replacement so isn't subject to Part P etc.

If you know what you are doing you can do that yourself. Simple swapouts can be done yourself but you must be confident that you are wiring it correctly. Best to get a sparky in if you are in any way unsure.

    Edit: SNAP!! lol...
