There's no reason why a different power plant will be crap in the long term.
Lotus Elise with hybrid power and a massive capacitor for massive acceleration. Cars will belighter and smaller and that's got to be better than the bloated rubbish being produced at the moment.Happy chappy0 -

The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver.
£200  that's more than a lot of cars are worth, surely they can't force someone to find £200 for this device?

I think the £1.20/mile figures are in the worst case areas for congestion. However, charging different amounts for different roads just forces the congestion elsewhere, onto roads that cant cope with that amount of traffic.
I'd also wonder how it would go down in the EU, as it's basically restricting peoples' movements & of course invading privacy - two fundamental human rights endangered in one fell swoop.matched betting: £879.63

There's something wrong if the car doesn't actually burn the fuel first!brazilianwax wrote:If it doesn't smell of Optimax at the exhaust, I ain't interested.
Anyway, a power plant is just a power plant and there might be new technologies that can give you better acceleration. If in the future they finally manage to fit speed limiters and reduce every road to 30mph "to make them safe" or whatever, then acceleration is going to be where it's at.
Personally, as long as the power plant makes enough power to make the vehicle entertaining then I'm happy to then concentrate on the interesting bit, which is of course going round corners.Happy chappy0 -

Acceleration is where I'm at now - car is 345bhp and corners like no other car on the road! It'll beat a lambo if there are corners involved! :T

If road tax AND fuel duty are going to be scrapped (as we already pay per mile on fuel duty, even the govt can't make us pay twice, surely...) then it's a great idea!
I'll go and buy the BIGGEST, NOISIEST, POLLUTINGINST car I can find with a HUGE engine and I'll drive like a lunatic, cos there'll be no incentive to drive calmly and in a fuel-efficient way.
Anyway, I work in vehicle tracking now... not gonna work nationally is my opinion.0 -

I won't be trading in my baby for an electric, hybrid or biofuel car. Life's too short to drive a !!!!!! car!!!
Too right, I get 23 MPG, whether I drive like Driving Miss Daisy or Colin McRae
May be too low for some people but my car puts a massive smile on my face, every time I get behind the wheel, No amount of taxation would put me in a prius or other "eco" friendly mode of transport, And there is no viable alternative for me, Do my impression of a sardine on the train, or sit in old ladies pee on the bus sat next to a schizophenic who hasnt taken his meds NO WAY jose will I be doing that.
And as for the anti 4x4 brigade they just make me want to buy one out of spite, if they didnt handle like a dogs dinner I would get one, But I like to able top go around corners without ending up on my roof.0
