Hi, just wondered if anyone has had problems with the o2 modem. I have the original black modem which was provided when o2 started broadband, i had some problems with my connection keep dropping which seemed to be cured when o2 changed my broadband channel? whilst on the phone they also said they would send me out the new Wireless modem II (white one) as the black one is 3 years old.
Received the modem today, switched it over and kept having problems with the connection, whilst browsing the internet kept dropping. Changed the modem back and its back to normal!
Why would the new one be doing this? any advice?

If you are connecting wirelessly to the new router you may be getting interference on the wireless channel, log on to the router and change it.
Otherwise if the problem is when you are wired, have you fitted microfilters? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
yes, the problem is wireless, on my laptop, iphone and PS3. how do I change the channel myself?0

we had 3 of the white routers from o2 and all did the same - would drop up to 20 times an hour. Worked with the support people (who in fairness were helpful) but never solved the issue this went on for 10 months + went and bought our own Cisco router and it has never dropped since0

Log into the router interface, go to wireless settings and pick a different channel.
Download and use InSSIDer to see what channels your neighbouring networks are on, and use something different to avoid clashes.
But as already advised, test with ethernet first to ensure that this really is just a wireless issue. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Thanks for the advice, I changed the channel from 1 to 6 last night, everything seems ok since last night, will see how it goes over the day.0
