Does home insurance cover anger?

I got really frustrated with my laptop the other night and whacked the keyboard in anger. Unfortunately I hit it a bit too hard and have totally broken it. I've had it looked at by an expert and it is damaged beyond repair. :o

I have home insurance with "gadget cover", do you think my home insurance policy would cover this? I know it's a long shot, but I wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience? Go on, own up...

When I am angry I tend to come on the board and find a silly poster and rant at them....

I am happy at the moment ;)

On claim form, how would you explain a loss as its neither a result of an unforeseen event or an accident.

Well, my anger was unforeseen, I've never done that before.

It probably covers fire but not ire.

I was online several weeks back streaming news of orphans in Somalia. Got so upset I was sobbing. Tears flooded into the laptop, which fused and was beyond repair.

Water or oil escaping from any fixed water or heating system or
    from any domestic appliance.

Fortunately I was able to argue that in this case my eyes were an 'appliance' (ie a tool used to view internet streaming) and the incident took place in a 'domestic' setting (my living room), so I was able to claim the cost of a new laptop.

No, I fought this alone - no class action involved

I'm afraid the insurers have now obtained court orders censoring all publicity of the event to avoid further claims.

  • The laptop was faulty and in your misguided effort to repair it you accidently smashed the keyboard to bits. There you go acidentle damage.
