I bought (rather OH did for Christmas) an Oral B Professional Care 7000 brush almost 2 years ago and its fantastic. I couldn't go back to a manual toothbrush again. Had to buy one when we went camping as I forgot to make sure my oral B was charged up. I've bought my 2 kids one for Christmas this year. Not tried the sonic but the brush looks a bit big compared to the Braun Oral B (the heads are cheaper too)0

I have been using the battery powered one and it made huge difference indeed.
Now I decided to go got the top ones, Sonicare elite 9000 or Oralb Triumph. It looks like the sonicare is better from what I can see here and on the internet as well. Thanks a lot.0 -
I have a sonicare and it really is excellent - I was amazed at how much cleaner my teeth felt after using it. The brushheads are pricey, but because you don't actually scrub with them - you just sort of gently run it over your teeth - they don't seem to wear too quickly. I brush twice a day and mine last about 6 months.
Also someone mentioned that the size of the brush head is large - I was in boots the other day and noticed that you can now get smaller heads for the sonicare.0 -
Last Christmas TJ Hughes had the Sonicare tooth brushes for an amazing £35. I bought 2. My husband has always suffered from really bad plaque build ups on his teeth. It has almost eliminated this for him. I went to the dentist last month and he said I did not need to go to the hygeynist!
I stocked up on new heads a few months ago. Superdrug had them all reduced to something like £5 for 2 heads. I cleared the shelf.0 -
Worth checking out Tchibo who sell a sonic brush for less than £20 several times a year - does a great job!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

Bought the £49.99 Philips Sonicare & another brush £15 (only get 1 in the box) & another 2 for £25 last night in Boots.
So = to an extra 24% discount, with all their points!!
Thanks for all your comments!!

I've been thinking of getting the Philips Sonicare but being put off by the size of the brush head. Is the Oral B round head better? Dont dentists use a round brush when they clean teeth?0

Gosh after reading this thread I think I should reappraise my cynical view of electric toothbrushes - ie lots of marketing spend promoting biased clinical trials. Thanks0
