    Just a query really...

When filling out your contact telephone number for competitions/emails etc, what do you normally put??

With me being at work until 5pm daily I do tend to put my mobile number in and sometimes think that companies wont want to pay the extra to ring a mobile when they can ring a landline???

    Thoughts....

I only put my mobile in (or landline for ITV comps).

I don't really think it matters too much.

A lot of them stipulate that they want a mobile number.

Does anyone else hate it when companies send you an email to tell you you HAVEN'T won? I'd rather them tell me I have won or just not email me.:rotfl:

Yeh! especially the ones that say "congratulations" in the header but when you open it up you find that someone else has won :(

True - but most of them will still let you put in a landline. I don't like getting junk calls at home but I have a real horror of getting them on my mobile (not really logical, I admit :p ) so I never give out my mobile. I don't think I've ever had a form that wouldn't submit with my landline number even when it asked for a mobile.

Very few commercial places will think twice about calling a mobile these days.

I wondered about getting a comping mobile but doesn't it end up costing you money? I've won quite a few things now but I certainly don't win enough to justify spending on an extra phone :rotfl:

    Hi,slbhill
I just used an old contract mobile & put a Virgin SIM card in that came with £5 free cedit. Two years or so later I still have credit on it & have never topped it up.Mind you I do not usually do text comps.Too tight for those :-)

If I recall correctly I just had to ask the first network to unlock it as it was out of contract. They soon sent a code to do that.

My oh has a major publishing/magazine group as a client, can't name them obviously, they are about to utilise keyloggers as part of their updates, which means if you copy and paste answers they might see you as an automated entry site, you will need to type in every magazine answer yourself to circumvent this.

hope that this will only apply to the answer part of the form, it would be a real pain to have to type name and address details every time

are they trying to get rid of automated entries? surely all a site needs to do is to watch for multiple entries coming from the same IP in there logs, or are they trying to get rid of the so called professional comper (remember the post a while back at http://www.promoveritas.com/PR.htm)

mind you if it means they can get rid of the captcha's then it can't be such a bad thing can it?

I have no clue A, Just know what oh told me last night, it's part of the upgrades, he advised me to type every magazine answer in as they will know if I have/or haven't.
