I think its because your shown as joining since April which might mean youve joined just to promote your friends competition, like you say youve been using the site for years but as your showing as new that might be why, you can always pm me the competition if you want and i will gladly post it for you

Hi Jenny - Just a couple of quotes from the site rules.....

MoneySavingExpert.com is a free site - you cannot pay to buy space - one of the reasons why so many people use it! Equally you are not allowed to advertise any goods, services and/or companies anywhere on the forum, or through private messages (PMs), no matter how honourable the intention.

'Advertising' includes touting for business; asking people to contact you; posting e-mail addresses which indicate a web address; linking to sites or blogs you or friends are involved in (whether you’re selling something or not), or to your eBay or other auction sales.

They clearly state you are not allowed to post links to sites you or friends are involved in.

Also from the rules..........

We never contact people when their posts are deleted. The sheer numbers of posts removed every day means it's simply impossible to contact everyone.

Your post therefore was correctly removed according to the rules and you were not given a reason for this which once again is completely in accordance with the rules.


The rules are designed to protect all the forums from spamming and advertising and they do start to look a bit stupid when applied to the comps forum where the whole idea is to post comps which promote or advertise companies. We obviously want individuals and companies to give us comps to enter but unfortunately the wider site rules mean they have to be posted by a neutral third party.
