Hi all! I've only been comping a couple of weeks, but I've noticed a lot of comps say in their T&C's that winners may be required to participate in publicity. Since I'm like the world's shiest person, is this something I should avoid, or does it just involve your name being put on a website?

It depends on the comp, I would think the bigger prizes (not all of them) would be aiming to get some publicity from it, there's not much pointing in running the competition otherwise. Having said that, I haven't been asked to do anything ... yet.

  • Hi, can I enter comps that say UK resident only, when I am abroad? I noticed one BBC 6 music comp for example says "Competitions are open to UK residents only". AND "Overseas entries will not be considered".
I am a UK resident, but I spend a lot of time working abroad and want to know if I can do comps while I'm travelling?

    Any advice appreicated. Thanks!

I am pretty sure that it will vary from comp to comp.
You will just have to check the Ts + Cs for each comp.

To be honest, there are so many comps on here that I wouldn't waste time fretting over the ones that have T & Cs that worry you, go for the others. Just to let you know that this should be in the Comps Discussion Sticky at the top of the board and will probably get moved there if you're looking for it later, the main board is for comps only.

Providing you have a UK address with someone to accept parcels and phone number (a mobile is fine) it shouldn't be a problem. I spend most of the year in Spain and use a friend's address for delivery. If you're worried about IP addresses you can use a proxy service like myprivatenetwork for £5 a month.

  • I entered a contest on Ebitsi. It was a contest to get as many clicks onto the site as possible. There was an online tracking thing that told you what place you were in and i came in 1st. The winner was supposed to be notified within 24hrs of auction ending. It's been a week and i've heard nothing and had no replies to emails. Can they do that?

I actually contacted a place that looks into these sorts of things and i wonder if they contacted the owner of Ebitsi as suddenly the contest has disappeared off the site. I still have the email that explains the competition though.

Is it likely this was just a scam? It's not a good way of attracting attention to the site if it was. :(

Argh! I've just been on Daybreak's site, wasn't really thinking and ended up doing a competition run by a*tiveyou!!!

I've unsubscribed on their site, thought I'd clicked no thanks to everything that came up and the two emails I have received I've either unsubscribed (cheapflights) or closed the account (maximiles.co.uk).

I didn't verify my email with them and do not want to attempt to login to close an account but is there anything else I can do to get them to get shot of my details?

Can't believe I've been so stupid!

    TIA
