gave it up as a bad job in the end
SIL's got a car & runs us to places now whereas before we moved here we had to bus/walk/tram/train everywhere,
so it's nice to be able to just ask her if we need or for a day out :j
sun's lovely here, just having a large glass of water with ice & a slice of lemon, very refreshingplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -

My sis always takes me here and there but I really want to get back in car. Will need some refresher lessons! Last time I drove I had kids in car and was nervous cos car was like a shed on wheels! I turned our corner which is a sharp bend and ended up on pavement! They have got bollards there now
Sis has phoned from tenerife and its been chucking down with rain!

Hi Everybody,
Because I am a typical male I am lazy and therefore I will subcribe to this thread but cannot be bothered to read the 14 pages in this thread. I will however read the ones from now (at least I am honest).
Anyway, I just thought I would pop on here to say hello. I am new to comping. I started comping 28 days ago and so far have won a book from Bangzo and today I won a Gillette Proglide. I wake up every morning in the hope that the Ferrariy delivery mansaw the curtains were shut and so he just posted the keys through the letter box and left the cat outside. It didn't happen this morning but fingers crossed for tomorrow morning.
I am sucker for statistics and so everything is on a spreadsheet ( apart from the Twitter ones). So far I have been comping 28 days, entered 2384 comps, won 2 (giving me a win ratio of 0.084%) and an average of 30k comps in a year. I do have a few more stats but I don't want to sound even more boring than I actually am. If I had the time I would create a database as I could do a lot more with it.
For example (assuming it doesn't go against the site T&Cs) I could create a web script to trawl the pages every couple of minutes and send the comps to an RSS feed or post them to my twitter account. It would also make entering the daily comps a hell of a lot easier.
Incidentally if anybody has any stats they wish to share or knows of any way there is to havea stream/feed of comps instead of manually refreshing the page please don't hesitate to share.
I would like to thank all the people that post the comps and I hope to be posting more soon (I have just posted 1 so far (I think)).
Also....(I know, when will I ever stop), I have seen on somebody elses signature that it is rude to take comps and answers from here and post them elsewhere. Am I right in assuming that the reverse is true? i.e. posting others comps from sites on here?
Well that's all I have for now but no doubt I will have some more questions soon but in the meantime please don't hesitate to get back to me about anything you like.....even if it is to tell me to shut up.
Many Many Many Regards and thank ytou all again,
JohnI'll do one of those eleventh Heaven things in a bit0 -
Hi John, Good luck with the comping. If you pop over to the I Won Board there is a thread there where you should copy your post, you can read other people's introductions to the Boards there too. That's not to say you've done wrong to post here, but more people will see it there.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

hi grandadevans & welcome
all sounds a bit like hard work to me creating stats, spreadsheetsi just comp for fun, have been doing for years & still win loads
though i do have an obsession with the magazine postings/puzzler comps
:D:rotfl:
with regard to your..
"I have seen on somebody elses signature that it is rude to take comps and answers from here and post them elsewhere. Am I right in assuming that the reverse is true? i.e. posting others comps from sites on here?"
speaking for myself & lots of other peeps i know agree, it's
a form of 'netiquette' that peeps don't 'lift' answers/comps from here to other sites & vice versa, only fair when the op has done the hard work finding/solving answers for all, it would be only decent to say if finding a comp from another site & posting to give the kudo's back to the op who originally found the comp etc,
well, that's the way i look at it anyway
there's a great comping guide on here if you've not come across it yet..might help answer some of your questions etc

i'd better shut up now :rotfl:& get back to entering some :D
lots of good luck to you & have fun comping xxplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Am really sad to hear of the death of 'Sarah-Jane Smith' Elisabeth Sladen. It's just come through as breaking news on BBC website but no real details yet, I didn't know she was ill so it is a real shock. My eldest DD adored her in Dr Who.

She certainly didn't look 63 though did she, from what I've read it was complications from cancer.
