Hi all...i find the best way to deal with anyone on the phone is to treat them how you would like to be treated..hence i am polite and courteous and have got far more help than if i go in all guns blazing..
Well today started cold and grey and has got better..sun is out and its still chilly but got all my washing dry..did some baking and then played dollies with iris..trying to finish painting the trellis, hasn't been done since i was pregnant and now looks old and battered,a coat of fencecare and it looks new..tidied up the front garden and sanded the porch wall down ready to be painted..got some cream masonary paint from wilkos ,so my porch will look lovely and fresh, looking for a new doormat, think i am going to b&m to get one, have some nice ones for about £4..cheap and cheerful...went to the lotties and watered them, everything is growing thankfully.Got lots of free seeds this year thanks to this place, fingers crossed they grow..our neighbours have given me 2 brand new coldframes..they wanted to grow their own but just don't have the time or the inclination i think..no complaining though..will grow my salads in them along with some herbs..swapped some more asparagus for icecream and lollies today...
right i'm off tea is ready and i'm starving..
see you all later
whoops welcome to all the new ladies..you'll love this thread..

Bertie - my friend went through an awful divorce a couple of years ago and was able to buy her husband out of the property, it was classed as a re-mortgage and as such didnt incur stamp duty et. We chose a mortgage deal that required no upfront costs (these were all added in) it took some time to go through the full application and she got a small amount towards her solicitors fees as an incentive. We did not use her existing company but instead went for a mortgage broker who was able to look at all her costs etc and tell her instantly whether she would be accepted. It may well be worth you contacting a good broker just for a chat and they can run through your figures and give you an indication of what would be the best way forward. There is loads of advice and help on the mortgages board that I used when helping her sort hers out.
Good luck.

Hippeechiq - on the container/ compost thing.
I mix my compost with perlite - that way I use less compost in each tub!! It also stops the compost being so claggy and my plants thrive in the perlite/compost mix. It's also lighter to carry home! Loving the idea of using the wine bags I'd been thinking of using the ladybird bags,0 -

I usually believe this. If I thik I'm being ''too much'' I apologise and say ''I know it must be awful to have to receive complaint I', so sorry'' at which point people realise you are human and know they are too usually. BUT, I'm sorry to say, sometimes I feel driven to hit the phone. No one that drives me to that is the sort who would be an OSer but sadly, just as rude and nasty callers exist so do utterly hapless and seemingly obstructive people answering the phones. If only everyone would remember we are all only human though!0 -

Wow, a new thread and page four already.
GRANDMA, thanks for the advice about paper.
Welcome to everyone who's new although I shouldn't really be saying that as I don't post much, but have been reading since last July. That must be a lot of posts. Some here have been in since the beginning. There's a wealth of advice on here and a good dose of common sense too which seems to be so lacking elsewhere these days.Second purse £101/100

Too true - I was cold-called recently by some firm claiming to be able to reclaim my "mis-sold" PPI, twice in one day despite me saying (politely) that I was a)registered with TPS & they shouldn't even be calling & b)I was 100% sure that I could manage my own affairs & could find out for myself! The young men got quite stroppy, almost saying that I didn't know wherof I spoke, upon which point I quietly said goodbye & hung up! :rotfl:July 2024 GC £0.00/£400

I'm definitely getting into the swing of things. I've just saved the seeds from the second of my RTC "Finest" sweet pointed peppers and will dry them out to grow for next year. I already put the seeds from one into a little paper sachet, and the other ones will go into a similar packet in a few days when they're dried. Fantastic! Half of that pepper is going into Bolognese for tea - padded out with oats naturally - and that'll do us for two meals. With pasta tonight, and in toasties tomorrow night. Yum.
Having had a bit of training as a receptionist, I always try to treat people as I'd like to be treated when on the phone. I can't understand some people and their need to be so arggh about it. BTW thanks for the welcome - it's lovely.
