Mardatha has he checked thats right - I ask cos when I had a miscarriage I had several drip sites and one was very painful and hot after I came home, I assume that was normal (and to be honest didnt really care - ) and when my GP visited me a week later he immediately announced it was very badly infected and sent me back to hospital. Its possible that his foot has become infected especially if it has any heat there at all.0

Yes keeping an eye on it pet, thank you - I think he just meant the pain not the actual heat - but I'm always wary of infection and keep questioning him about it0

Larumbelle, what does the union say? It seems very unfair that you should only get SSP for the period you wanted to work and were available. What does your contract say? Seems to me they should treat it like gardening leave ie you stayed away on their instructions so you were still fulfilling the terms of your contract
Some employers do have a thing called summat like "Disability Adjustment Leave" - which can be used, for instance, for things like someone (of themselves) being perfectly well enough to attend work - provided that the necessary adjustments have been made for them to do so (IF those adjustments havent yet been made for some reason - eg a necessary piece of equipment hasnt yet turned up...because the firm is taking some time supplying it).
Would something like this be one way of bridging the gap in between Larumbelle being well enough to return to work of herself (ie subject to necessary adjustments having been made) on the one hand and when its actually possible to return to work (ie those adjustments have actually been made) on the other hand?

Anyways - take care Larumbelle my lass ((( )))

have excess of sage - its really taking off in one of my tubs. How would you go about making use of this - I'm not even really sure how I would use it in my cooking!
sage and onion stuffing? - would that freeze in portions?
I'm also hoping for a basil glut and had ideas about freezing it in icecube portions - I've got ice-cube bags that I don't use. Would you mix it with oil or just sort of puree or chop it.
help I'm a novice!
xx
hhhmm someone with more freezing knowledge and sage will help out I'm surebut in the meantime I would freeze in an ice cube tray. I'd chop and add to some water but others might say to add to oil. Lovely to have a glut of something! I also think stuffing balls should freeze well.
Mardatha - healing thoughts to your DS
Haribo - end of another week. Any joy of dosh coming flooding in?0 -

Sage dries really well. Just cut of the newer growth and hang small bunches up somewhere dry and airy, if possible out of the sun.
The dried leaves keep really well just like that for a couple of years.
When you want to cook with them, take a few leaves and crumple them, then start to roll them in your palms (like rolling a small ball of plastercine) and they will form lose soft crumbs just like the ones you buy in the shops. Called rubbed sage.
Use in winter stews, added to some soups (sweet potato is really nice with sage) stuffings. You can use the whole leaves in roasts and with roast veggies. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
thanks wmf and RAS, I will try that

Bless you for asking :A. Sadly not. Other horrible things have happened this week which have made me realise that it really is only money and our health is more important than anything.
I'll keep on chasing next week, including filing another small claim at court.
Hope your son feels much better very soon Mar. xxx
Sorry work are being a pain Larumbelle. xxx
Grey Queen. I freeze bananas in their skins and the girls eat them frozen and say they taste like banana ice cream. I freeze any fruit that is too bruised to be palatable to my children and blend it from frozen for smoothies.
Haven't managed to catch up I'm afraid. Will post again soon.0 -
HJ - do you need a mad bird with an axe to come and pay them a visit? You take it easy girlie pants.
I have new neighbours. They are moving in tonight it seems and not having had any for a year it sounds as if they are bloody elephants and all their mates too!!!! This will really impress the seahag when she comes back off holiday. She thinks that anyone who rents is some kind of underling - until I mentioned I used to rent and then she didnt know where to put herself! :-)0 -
- I bought the watermelon specially so that I could try out a watermelon rind recipe or two.
Has anyone else concocted anything from watermelon rind?Frugalista wrote: »I have a recipe for watermelon rind and lime pickle which is good with "Indian type meals". I could post it if you think it may be something you would use?Re freezing fruit query of yours - personally, to date, I've removed non-edible bits (and chopped into chunks - if applicable):
- pineapple (skin removed)
- watermelon (rind removed)
- bananas (skin removed and chopped in half)
- grapes
- damsons
- apples (stewed with tiny bit of water and little bit of honey)
- orange/satsuma/clementines (skin removed and divided into segments)
- currants (ie blackcurrants, etc).
ceridwen, noticed you are currently online - not sure if you missed my post - would you like me to post the recipe?"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

(Don't have any stake in Numatic, the company who manufacture Henry vacs, btw but I just like them a lot, with their funny faces).
I like mine too and was told by someone in the know that it has suction as good as the most expensive machines of the same type.
My one gripe is that the hose has split at the top end, near the bit I hold. I've had it a few years but it's not been subjected to violence. In fact it mostly hibernates in the cupboard until my conscience stirs. As someone else once said, my dust bunnies have names.
The place looks clean but I'm an old broom and know where the dirt is, :rotfl:. I've mended the hose for now with some sticky tape but will have to get a new one before long. It's on my list of things to do.0
