Just catching up and sending positive thoughts to both JackieG and GreyQueen.

Its been a mega busy day again and have re-arranged our bedroom, its getting there but its hard work.

DD5 has a friend here for dinner so am busy keeping dog and cats out of sight - she doesnt do either apparently!!

Having raided Ikeas bargain corner yesterday I cant recommend it enough - not only are the goods reduced by 30% but they are built too, saving hours and hours of work!!

I am about to swap the curtains in the living room with the bedroom ones, as the living room ones are darker, whereas the bedroom are cream - DH is complaining the cream is too light for the bedroom. So am on the lookout for cream fleeces ready for the winter.

DH took a car load of stuff to a local charity shop today who were so grateful for the stuff its restored my faith in them.

It was DS7 school fayre yesterday and it was well attended and loads of stuff went - however the pricing seemed silly and I think next year its needs looking at - 5p for a childrens book, 20p for a hot dog, 30p for huge pizza slice? all seems a little too cheap. Someone had donated little baby hats which they had hand decorated with slogans (supporting local teams etc) and these were being sold for 50p.

    KIDCAT

I think you know what most of us would say re whether to warn the parents or no about drugs at the party - DO SO!

Whether they act on the information or no is not in your hands - but at least you will have done your bit and can sit easy with your conscience that you have, at any rate, tried.

You must be thankful that you have a sensible daughter personally - but you would be as well to ring the parents of the partygiver - and the parents of other attendees at the party. Thus - if the partygoers parents arent my idea of parents and are planning to let her get away with this even if told - then at least other parents have been told what is planned for the party.

There might be the odd sensible kid that will go to the party intending not to join in with this - but that gets pressurised by the stupid ones there - so if you can save even one normally sensible kid from this then its worth it.

    Hit the phone gal...

Ceridwen - have already called them - was met with usual response - oh it doesnt matter what we say she doesnt listen - we are so fed up of it blah blah blah!! When they said they wished she was more like my DD I pointed out that if sher lived with me she would be - simply because I exercise authority and my DD knows that if she ever pulled anything like this it would be her last party. have also warned the parents I have numbers for - most said they were picking up early too and were not at all surprised by the latest turn of events. Which leaves all the boyfriends friends and the ones that have been invited by others, we are talking now how likely this party is to turn massive and end up on local news. DD is instructed to get out at earliest sign of bother or when numbers hit 30, at that point she will know its going to go massively bad.

Its about time the parents of this child learnt to be a bit "firm" with her methinks.

Anyway - by the sound of it - you've done what you can and told your daughter what "warning signs" to look out for - sorta "Spot it and Go".

Maybe this kid's parents and/or her will finally "wake up and smell the coffee" if the house does land up trashed or suchlike - dont know if they've had any wake-up calls to date? or whether they have experienced one but it was ignored:cool:

    - leastways though, as I said, it sounds like you DO have a very sensible daughter yourself.

    Thanks ceridwen -:)

I now have some very exciting news. I have been to check plants today - never made it yesterday, and my tomato plants actually have very small buds and flowers, DH thinks I am demented cos I ran into the shed and grabbed the tomato food!! The courgettes have two very good sized flowers and the pumpkin has a big flower too!! Its so good to see that they are working and DD5 friend is fascinated that we are growing veg - apparently we are really cool cos her mum wouldnt let her grow anything!! :)

Kidcat good for you re the party.

I'll give you a laugh now - for ages I would read your posts and see things like DD5, DS7 and used to wonder how many children you had or whether you fostered a lot - the fact that you were using ages didn't click until very recently. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: What a twit I am!

Hugs for everyone experiencing illness/relatives' illness - puts my own problems into perspective and I wish you all well.

I've had a very low key day - yesterday's stress knocked the stuffing out of me. Nothing needed to be done urgently so I mentally took the day off and feel better now. TB was back to her usual self as soon as we got home, so that's good.

Home made chili tonight and I've got a question - has anyone successfully frozen sour cream? I'll use some on the chili but there will be some left over - mustn't waste it :)

kidcat I can`t find your post about the party. Let`s just say been there and got the t shirt all pre mobile phone and facebook so very different, in that mobs didn`t attend that quickly. I have sat outside places at 2 am waiting and even looked through a private diary and managed to `persuade` a certain male to not ask dd out again, she doesn`t know to this day 25 years later. Use every crafty trick in your book, even if it means being devious. I don`t know her age or anything and I am sure you are spot on. Good luck and I cannot help but be relieved that my 3 are `past it. You will have warned her never to leave her drink unattended and to get all her own drinks

Well party drop done, the dad looked horrified at numbers arriving so have taken pity and offered to send OH round to help if they need it, he has promised to call if they need help.

Have given DD a full what to look outfor and be on alert talk - now its up to her.

'My next sprouting adventures are I'm planning to buy some unshelled monkey nuts and have a go at sprouting them (having read of someone having done so and saying how nice they were). I have no idea whether I will even like them - but ..hey...if I dont..then I'll just use the rest for another experiment (ie making my own peanut butter).'

When dd left a bag of them recently I put some in compost and so far have these to show. Will be interesting to see what they are like.
