It's 26 degrees in the kids room, poor mites are boiling. DS1 has a sheet instead of a quilt and ds2 has a sleepsuit. It's so muggy, it's horrible.
Had an OS tea of self concocted mushrooms stuffed with HM spiced couscous and cheese. They were lovely, will definitely repeat.
I've had a hankering for a while to move to the country. I've always lived in semi-rural towns but have the real urge to live in the middle of nowhere with some chickens, large veg garden and some alpacas. I've got no money and I'm not good at growing things so that it a pipe dream.0 -
Well I have just finished glossing my spare room door. It's the first time I have ever done it and not a bad job. Only one run.
I have got to get a TV!!!0 -
hahaha i love it about the rice milk. Try making your own oatmilk instead maybe? (obvs I know you were trying to do it with what you had) You can make oatmilk very well by adding water to oats and straining it through a muslin cloth. Maybe you could try this with ur rice milk? or even a thin cotton t-shirt if you have one you can use for this?
I am new to the forum today and I am SO pleased I have found this thread. I want to learn to be very thrifty and how to make lots of nice things

also I have just seen silvermaid's post about not being able to use cosmetics because of your skin and you mentioned ceridwen. Is that a kind of plant? I would be interested to know about it as i work at Lush-(have you ever tried their things before?) and we have a really nice bath product for sensitive skin called ceridwen's cauldren
Everything at lush is really natural so i thought it might have ceridwen in it-so i would like to learn more about it

Welcome suzitiger. You'll find it's very supportive and informative here.
Boo red_lady - you've just pricked my conscience. I was supposed to gloss a door today but came up with some totally bogus excuse not to - now I'm feeling guilty and will have to have a glass of wine :rotfl::rotfl:
On the up side - made chili and portioned it and put it in freezer, the yoghurt has yogged - still always surprised when it does - stewed plums to have with yoghurt for breakfasts and have cleaned all downstairs, including bathroom, so not so bad really."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -

suzitiger - ceridwen is a poster on this thread, not an ingredient . Not sure how she'll react to "ceridwen's cauldren" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -

Ceridwen was an enchantress in Welsh legend and folk lore. Our Ceridwen is a money saving enchantress, hehe.
I love lush, lucky you! I could happily spend a fortune in there, not very mse but it makes me :j0 -
I've been over on the Quick, Grabbit While You Can board, and a poster called MorrisonsEmployee has posted the following (I am naming the poster because I think it is important that s/he receives the thanks for this, the link is https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3334100 if it is useful to anyone and you want to go over there and thank the poster):

I have started The Turnip Wars. The early tomatoes were Latah, and I'm not sure how many hours of sunlight or daylight they need to ripen...I can ask though. I will get them again as they were terrific.
Thanks for the tip on Latah. I think I'll start earlier next year with my tomatoes and maybe have more success
Meant to say on the subject of turnips - hubby considers neeps to be a posh word, they were always known as tumshies in his house.
In my house though tumshie was a less than flattering word for people with a lack of common sense.0 -
hahaha ohhhh right *blushes* maybe Ceridwen would like it as it is her namesake
It is a yummy product. I love working there because it means I get the occasional freebie and i don't have to buy them. I do want to make my wages go a lot further than they do though when it comes to other things. Hence why i have joined the forum.
LIZZYBE I like that you make big batches of food and freeze them. I try to cook in bigger portions so there is enough for the freezer and my boyfriend's lunch the next day..I have to remember to freeze it before we eat our dinner though..otherwise he sneaks off for seconds and scoffs it. Where do young men put all that food?? Seriously if i ate that much i wouldn't be able to move.
