Right, just popping in to say hello.
Still haven't caught up.
Hope things are working out as best they can for all of you.
We ate hg new potatoes again last night. DSIL had a plateful of potatoes and hg, hm chilli & tomato salsa for his seconds "just because they are so tasty":)

REVERBE
Speaking of tribunals - that has got me wondering whether what happened to your flatmate would constitute a "de facto" dismissal and the possibility of taking the employer off to Tribunal for unfair dismissal. I dont know on that - just speculating - and Sar El would know if there was any chance of that approach winning.
Obviously SarEl knows best (I have been thinking about starting my own thread over there but I'm too scared of certain posters there... yeah, I know, I'm a wimp) but I wondered the same thing. But I know constructive dismissal is really hard to prove, you'd need a union or solicitor on side. Is there a law centre or citizens advice nearby you Reverbe?0 -
I ask things on there and when I get morons then I just ignore them. Life is too short to waste it on the likes of them
Got men coming to put in double glazing today, whole house is upside down with everything piled up in heaps, but I find I love the windowsills all clear ...feel a major cleanout coming on.
Thanks for all help with cooking - I think knowing how to tweak cheap plain food is going to be a very much-needed skill.0 -

I can hazard a guess or two as to which ones you are worried might "pounce" by now on that Board.
I think you would be wise to post up your particular query nevertheless - as SarEl might well respond to yours if you're lucky and there are certainly other legal eagles over there.
I'll keep a lookout to see if you do - and try to "head them off" if any of the "pouncers" there decide to use you as target practice.
I understand your reservations - but I think they will probably leave you alone - so go for it..0 -
chirpychick I used to be vegan many moons ago when i was a teen and my gawd the chocolate was nasty. even tried carab urghhhhh
It was one of the main reasons i stopped being one, needed the choccy to deal with monthly cramps.

Well coddy's first transition day  fell so nervous for him.

Reverbe - Please ask your flatmate to call ACAS http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2042
They will certainly help with what his rights are and how to manage things with the employer.
Good luck0 -
I like vegan chocolate. Most good dark chocolate is vegan
so it doesn't limit your choice too much...

 Made a flying trip to the lottie before work today (late starting today) and came back into my block of flats via a different route to the one I exited by and, guess what?
There is now a BATH TUB flytipped under my bedroom wiindow. Hence a Victor Meldrew moment; last week it was packaging from furniture and earlier in the month it was a blinking sofa delivered in person at 12.30 am.
Arrgghhhhh! If I could get my hands on the so-and-so who did that I'd give them the sharp side of my tongue. At least it's not a flammable item this time. Think I'll relocate into the munciple waste facility on the grounds that the carp down there is tidily-compartmentalised and they hose the traffic areas down several times a day.;):(Anyway on a happier note I've planted 3 rows of Autumn King 2 carrots and picked broad beans for tea and a handful of peapods which I shall shell and eat raw with today's variation on pasta salad.
 ginnyknit I'm so pleased to hear that your OH has has his benefits re-instated and things will be a bit less desperate in your household. Great news! And nice one with the CRM fabric.
Today is shaping up to be a scorcher with a flawless sunny sky but yesterday afternoon and evening was a bit scary with some spectacular thunderstorms. I disconnected my PC as I'm on dial up and don't want to risk having my modem fried in case the surge protector in the power strip fails. About 20 years ago when faxes were commonplace we had a dreadful storm in Provincial City and no end of stuff got fried.
Hope everyone has a good day and gets something bargainous.
EDIT: Glad you like my sig line, Oldtractor.
Can you cook anything with peapods and does anyone know to point me towards a recipe please? I know I'm OS but I was looking at the few peas which had grubs in them when I shelled just now and thinking: "Hmmm, extra protein?" And, no, I didn't use them.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Went for a quick trip round Dunelm Mill today, they have a sale on. Last week i saw a crochet throw similar to the ones I make - 26.99, today 99p - how can they make reductions like that? Got a nice piece of fabric to recover the dining chairs for a pound, it was sealed in a bag but because it was cream I thought it would do, when I got it home it was Rennie Macintosh pattern so will be making something else with it now as it is beautiful.
Ooh now I have to go look in our branch in case I can pick up a bargain. And, you know, to drop in a CV in case they have any vacant positions... yes, that's why I'm going down there... honest :rotfl:0 -
car is in the garage and it can't be welded back on so they have to order in a new bit and it's going to cost £75 fitted
absolutely gutted
gonna have to have a nosey round our account/spends and see where i can cut back on
i do have some gold to sell and my DH works for a company that buys gold and he has weighed it and reckons i can get about £50 for it, going to take it around the other cash 4 gold/pawnbroking shops and see what they can offer me first though so at least i will only have to find about £25-30 instead!!!!!!0
