Saveabob - dont look at it that way pet. Do what our grannies did and work around it - there's always a way! never let the b*ggers grind you down. Find a way that works, there is always something you can do but you need to find it ! :)

I doubt anybody can be truelly self-sufficient savabob. Hope it's not all getting you down. From my short time here I have realised that people just offer ideas, we just take them or leave them. I've picked up some corker things that to some would have been obvious but to me seemed like a hallelujah moment. Stay happy :)

My shoulder is much less painful today. I managed to tackle some ironing.

I planted some dwarf bean plants and my cucumber plants this morning. I need to pot on my aubergine plants. I have decided to keep them in the growhouse, rather than put them outside. I think my forst lot of potatoes are nearly ready. I am looking forward to tasting them.

My shopping arrived today. My storecupboard is looking less bare. I ordered a lot of pasta and rice. The higher prices are really a worry.

I need to start freezing my herbs. I will have to get some freezer bags tomorrow.

OK I know you wont believe this but..I swear on my life this is true. :D Honestly.
The Asda delivery man was speechless when I opened the door on Sunday. He was gawping at the tomatoes in the bedroom windowsill. He said "MY GOD !! are they tomatoes ?? How did you get them that size already ? mine are not even flowering"...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
And in all the excitment he forgot to give me the order sheet and was also one tin of custard short :rotfl:
:cool::cool: Cross my wee black heart, its true.

on your window sill im not an idiot but its not enough to feed a family of 3 self sufficient full time is it? even tom and barbara needed a big garden to feed themselves all year

Sorry, I wasn't being patronising or thinking you could feed your family. I was working on the "every little helps" thing.

Hi Saveabob. Last year on here we all posted pages & pages of what we were growing and trying and buying and planting. But I bet by the end of the season most folk were like me - very much hit or miss. But it keeps your mind occupied, trying to fight back. Is better than being like my OH, sitting moaning & depressed and moody all the time. It makes you feel that you can fight back and not let life get you down. x

That's taken a few weeks ago of the livingroom ones, got more in the bedroom - they make the room all cool and green and mysterious :) - I'm high up and have big windows facing south, so gets very hot. Looks hellish from outside though but who cares lol.
But you can only grow so much on a windowsill eh?
