I think you either love wind turbines or hate them but they seem to be more hated when someone wants to site them within view of a house
I adore them and OH takes me past them whenever we seem them on our trips. I watched windfarm wars on tv and thought it was more to do with house prices mainly ! If I lived in the countryside and someone offered me free electric after an initial payment I would jump at the chance.
Uht milk is perfect for the stock cupboard, I always have some in and use it for yoghurts and rice puds etc as well as tea and coffee. As someone says its better than popping out for a pint of milk and spending 30 quid in the process. Has anyone seen cheap sugar anywhere? I want to stock up for jam season and the cheapest here is 82p.
Just been in Poundland and got a few bits, 2 big tins of ravioli for a quid, useful standby for Oh oh and the felix cat food was 5 for 2 pounds - further down the block the whiskas was 62p in Wilkies. Nipped in 4 Cs's and was dismayed to find higher prices and poor quality goods. But did get a nice black (now theres a novelty) dress for a fiver. Oh and a blackcurrant bush in Poundland, as I now have a soft fruits section in my garden as the raspberry bushes I was gifted are amazing.Clearing the junk to travel light

when we had the snow last christmas, my prepayment gas meter was taking £45 a week, and I was still only having heating on to warm in morning and then in evening, its one of those old fires with the pilot light behnd it. I struggled to top the gas up with all the other bills, but if I had been on jsa or other benefits I think we would have froze!!! I am begging for it to be replaced but am getting nowhere with the housing, even tho its been condemmed. This year I am now saving my change in a huge money pot which I will exchange nearer to the winter so I have an amount to go towards the pre payment.
I have read through the boards and am preparing for winter already, a nice huge rug in lounge, we are making door draught excluders and I am stocking up on bits and pieces like loo roll and other non persihables ( I found shampoo and conditioners in superdrugs for 20p, got enough for 2 years lol ) hopefully this will free up some more money to throw at the gas meter.
charity shops have some nice vintage / old curtains and fabrics which I have bought to insulate the back door a bit better, and I have also bought a frugal throw for £3 which was in next about 3 years ago for £60 :T
I will start stockpiling food bits from september and I am growing my own veg, hit and miss there tho!!!Frugal living challenge 2011

Yes, but we're saying there are still things you can grow that don't like sun. It is just choosing the right things.
Do you have sunny windowsills on the other side of your place? Mad Arthur is growing tomatoes on hers (and eating them now)0 -
my home im not allowed to change provider this is written in my lease. sometimes i feel like running away to another country0

on your window sill im not an idiot but its not enough to feed a family of 3 self sufficient full time is it? even tom and barbara needed a big garden to feed themselves all year0

ditto. British gas and tied in with landlord's wishes. All this talk about changing suppliers gets me down too. Woolly jumpers are our friend0 -

I know that you must be very frustrated, but please do not make sweeping judgements like that about people. My back garden is approx 30ft long by 20ft wide & I am by no means posh! Everyone need to make the best of what they have & not judge each other, we are all in this together & need to support each other in what will most likely be a very bumpy road ahead.
Is there a possibility of growing some small cut & come again salad leaves in an inside window box, in a bedroom or your kitchen? You'd be surprised at how much salad you can get from even a small pot.
Even small pots of herbs can brighten the most boring salad or pasta dish to make it feel/taste quite special.0
