URGENT Help needed

Hi Guys,
We could really do with some help. I will start with some background;
In Jan 2010 we went bankrupt, we lost the house everything. My partner and I moved into our parents houses seperatly on a temp basis. He is currently claiming Job seeker allowance and I work full time on a good wage ( £1300/month approx take home).
This week my partner has been told by his parents that they want him to leave and get his own place asap. On that he is putting in an application to council for housing. This is where our concern is, we would like to get a place together, but I have real concerns that if I put my name down on app, 1. it will lessen his chances of getting a place asap, 2. he will loose any sort of benefit he is getting at the mo. Since bankruptcy we have done amazingly well and whilst I am happy to pay the rent, ct, wr, elc and gas costs, should we have place, his job seeker allowance would help greatsly witrh ,living costs. I do not want us to fall back into any debt.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

    It would help to know your ages.

    And you need to look at www.turn2us.org.uk and do an SOA http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

    The Government are changing the rules; as a single person under 35 your OH will only be eligible for a room rate in shared houses. Even if the Council regarded a single young man as a priority, it is unlikely that they will be overun with single room flats or shared house, so he needs to make private arrangement promptly.

    As a couple you are entitled enough for a one room flat.

    You probably need to go on your local council web-site and work out the LHA for a room rate and for a one bedroom flat.

    The good news is that a couple over 25, you may be entitled to WTC if your income is considered low enough.

    I'm confused. If you are earning £300 per week then he shouldn't be getting any JSA. Assuming he's been unemployed since becoming BR. Do you also claim Working Tax Credits?
    :footie:
    :p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

    They are not living together, so he is entitled to JSA.

    Possibly getting contribution based JSA?

    as RAS stated he is entitled to JSA as we dont live together. I do believe that he would loose his JSA should we move into together. I can cover the living costs for the time being, my concern was though if I put that I would like to be housed with him, that the urgency of the matter would be less and as his parents want him out asap, this could cause issues. Hope that makes sense

    I am also confused as I went onto our local council housing benefit calculator and after putting in both of our income, it states my OH would still qualify for housing benefit. I have copied in the results below;

    You have now finished the benefit calculator questions.

    The entitlement amounts shown here are only as accurate as the information provided by you. The amount of benefit you are awarded may be different to the amounts shown here, if there are other circumstances that you have not told us about.

    According to the answers you have given us, if you make a successful claim you could be entitled to:

    You could get : Housing Benefit £80.77 a week.

    You would have to pay the remaining rent of: £0.00 a week.

    You may need to pay for other things such as heating, water rates or extra services (or an amount to pay off rent arrears you may already have). If you do then you may have to pay more rent than the figure we have given above.

    Council Tax bill for your property is </STRONG> £16.35 per week.

    Council Tax Benefit £16.35 a week.

    You would have to pay the remaining Council Tax of: £0.00 a week.
    I am now confused because I would of though we wouldnt of been entitled to anything with my wage.
