  • FIZZ - BUZZ
a game for older children and adults, fizz-buzz needs quick thinking and is best when played fast.
count round in a circle, substituting fizz for the number 5 any number with 5 in it or divisible by 5 and buzz for the number 7 any number with 7 in it or divisible by 7.

so what would 35 be fizz buzz or buzz fizz?

  • we play one with the kids although alcohol enjoyiong adults would probably find it funny, all sit in a circle with one person in the middle with their eyes closed and with a bunch of keys in front of them, then one of the ring of players must take the keys and put them behind their back either without being heard or rattling the keys to confuse the person in the middle, everyone then puts their hands behind their back and the person in the middle has 3 guesses at who took the kys if they get it in 3 they swap places if not they have to sit in the middle again

We love to play a game called the spoon game.

This involves two people crouching down on all fours in the middle of the living room floor with spoons in their mouth. One of the players mustn't have ever played the game before. Standing over the two players you have a 'referee' who is hiding a spoon in their back pocket.

The players then take it in turn to hit each other on the head with the spoon that they are holding in their mouth (which is really hard to do). The twist is that when unsuspecting player 1 lowers their head to be hit, instead of it being player 2 that hits them, the 'referee' gets his spoon out of his back pocket and whacks them on the head (not too hard!) and then quickly hides the spoon again. The clueless player 1 cannot understand how player 2 is managing to hit them so hard and tries hopelessly to hit them back even harder! This then brings roars of laughter from the onlooking family and friends!

It is cruel but if you choose to pick on someone with a good sense of humour (and a hard head) they usually see the funny side.

    Happy whacking!

P.S. This is my first post - Hope it works!

Great game played it last night and it was a lot of fun!:rotfl:
  • We play a game by hanging numbered stockings (all those odd socks with stickers on) and peg them up on a piece of string. We then pop something different in each one and you have to write down which is in each one by feeling them.

Had a good laugh playing this last night, thank you!

This is a real favourite in our house.

    You need:
    • 4 playing cards of the same number (e.g. 4 Jacks or 4 8's) for every person playing, but all the sets of 4 have to be different; so if you have 3 people playing you might have 3 Kings, 3 Queens and 3 Jacks.
    • teaspoons - one less than the number of people playing

Everyone sits around a table or on the floor and you put the teaspoons in the centre.
Shuffle the cards and deal 4 face down to each person.
At the same moment, everyone chooses a card from their hand and passes it face down to the person on their left (and then picks up the one the person on their right has passed them). Everyone keeps their hand hidden.
You carry on this way until someone has got 4 of a kind, then that person can take a spoon from the middle.
As soon as someone's taken a spoon, everyone else has to grab a spoon too. This is where it gets frantic. The person who ends up without one (there was one fewer than the number of people playing, remember?) is out and you take one set of 4 cards and one spoon out of the game, shuffle & deal the cards again and continue.

The winner is obviously the person left when everyone else is out.

This game is hilarious and we can go on playing it for hours.

    Extra tips:
    - use forks instead of spoons to make it even harder for people to grab one
    - whoever first grabs a spoon during a round has to show everyone else the set of 4 that they got; if they didn't get 4 cards of the same kind, they're out
    - you will find out how vicious and competitive some apparently peaceful people can get!

I think this is now going to be a favourite in our house too, played last night and was brilliant fun for all ages, thanks for the idea.
  • We like to play Mallet's Mallet (made famous in the 80's by Sir Timmy Mallet on his morning show)
It's a word association game, eg: 1st person says egg 2nd person says a word that they associate with egg eg plant/cup/spoon etc It is a rapid fire game, any pauses/repetitions/stupid answers mean you lose, and in true Timmy Mallet style you get a whack on your head with an inflatable mallet (if none available, use an empty plastic pop bottle!)

This is a really bad explanation. so apologies, hope you understand what I'm on about

  • mistresslenore - not a bad explanation at all (I got it anyway!)
I use to 'spice' this up (?) for my niece and nephew by calling it 'Tick Tock' and running a timer (me) on the associations - the tick tocks started after a few seconds then got louder and louder as the poor bairn in question tried to think of a word!
No repetition, long pauses, rude words etc - and the timing of the 'tick tocks' can be speeded up/slowed down as necessary and any word/loud noise deemed necessary can be used to signify 'OUT'!!

Gets the little....tykes thinking on their feet! (They loved it, by the way!!!)

  • This thread is great - spending New Year with some good friends (and a drink or two!) - so poaching some ideas already - maybe drawing straws to see who wets themselves laughing first!!!!

carla.1's 'Spoons Game' and feijoa's 'In the Manner of the Word' especially.

    Cheers guys!
