Just what information gets passed to TV Licensing?

Having had a lull in the abusive letters from TV Licensing, my wife has been sent a letter this morning informing her that Dixons Store Group have notified TV licensing that she has bought 'TV Equipment'.
Now I understand that under the Wireless and Telegraphy Act (1967) the retailer is obliged to disclose details of anyone buying TV equipment. My wife got me a Logitech Squeezebox Touch *audio* streaming device for my Birthday, a device which doesn't do video of any kind.
I just wonder which muppet at DSG decided that this device fell into the infringing category and disclosed my wife's details.
I've just been on the TV Licensing site to make a 'No TV' declaration and now it's just a case of sit back and wait for the 'prove yourself innocent' letters to arrive.
Jason.

Unfortunately a lot of retailers don't have a clue about TVL - I've had to fill in a form when buying a DVD player...
It's all down to the training the staff receive and how well setup their system is.
With Dixons it wouldn't surprise me if their system automatically flags and generates a TV receiver form for any AV hardware (after all they have to flag it as AV for searches/cataloguing so why bother to differentiate further...).0 -
My wife just phoned up to clarify why they had passed on her details and was told by their call centre drone that it has a radio facility which required them to report it.
She pointed out it has no receiving facility (other than the internet) and asked why they had notified TVL. At this point he denied they even notified TVL and said that it needed a radio licence!?! She then told him that radio licenses went out in February 1971!
So it appears that DSG is clueless as usual, hopefully our new battle with TVL won't take too long to resolve. I've been on their website and made a 'no TV' declaration so we'll see if that makes any difference.
