    I would look at what caused you to collect 20k of debt before you pay it off with someone else's money and then risk getting it again. That said, if this is available to you, you'd be mad to pass it up. I don't think there is any shame in it, unless you repeat your mistakes again.
  • Quantic, I had very bad post natal depression. Spending made me feel less bad about being a total waste of space of a wife and mother. I can promise you that I do not feel proud, relieved or pleased that "someone else's" money is paying it off.

    I understand how you feel.

    My mil offered to pay for our IVF as we couldn't afford it ourselves. I refused her offer (pride and friction). We managed glad we did, as we had our twin boys and we (me and mil) fought like cat and dog after (interferring). This isn't to say not to accept the offer just that I understand how you feel.
