htc desire problem

hi was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this problem. Basically sometimes when i press to ring a contact or a number from my list, it dials someone completely different. the person dialled isn't next to the one i want to dial (so its not just a slip of the finger) but 4 or 5 people down.
It doesn't happen everytime but is starting to happen most days now and will happen 4 or 5 times on the trot before it goes back to normal.
I have checked for updates and have none. I am running 2.2 and i'm on the 3 network. just wondered if anyone had the same issue.
thanks

Sounds like a fault with the phone tbh, I've not got the Desire (I've not got any phone at all actually!) and I've never heard of any set-up issues resulting in what your describing, is the handset new? I'd check its within warrenty and return to the people you got it from, get it repaired or replaced. Just remember to save all your data and details first in on last two different types of hardware.
  • hi the phone is 6 months old and still under warranty so looks like i will have to send it back. the only reason i asked is because my sister has had the same issues with her desire, but not as often as i do, so was wondering if it was software glitch.
i will ring htc on monday and ask them

There is quite a well known issue with 2.2 handsets texting and dialling the wrong number in some circumstances. There was supposed to have been a recent update to cure this. So you shouldn't have any problems getting the handset repaired.
  • thanks alot for your help
