(not actually sure what the differnce is!!!)
  • I use the washing powder method but I put the shelves in one of those Gardener caddy tray things (green plastic tray with sides for potting etc), it is just the right size.

It's the enzymes in the biological soap powder that do the trick.

I got some Oven Pride for £3.50 from 'Savers' at the weekend. Still in the cupboard, will try and do it this weekend - such joy to look forward to!

i had my oven professionally cleaned at a cost of £60 then discovered Oven Pride at £4, it fantastic!! i leave my shelves overnight and put all my racks and rails in the bag it provides, useing the tray makes it so simple, can get it from all supermarkets, in a bright orange box.

I use washing powder, hot water, rubber gloves and WIRE WOOL it works amazingly the stains just disappear. Will not use anything else now. But make sure you use good thick rubber gloves. HTH. Savvyshe

I use the ammonia-in-bag method and given them a soak in hot sudsy water afterwards.

For soaking large items like grill pans and oven shelves, why put your bath out of commission and give yourself another job cleaning out a greasy bath?

The best thing is definitely a large plant potting tray. You can get something cheaper (and often bigger) than the purpose-made ones from Lakeland. You'll find multiple uses for it. Try shops like Wilkinsons and your local garden centres. ;)
