No-one had their fingers burnt, the loans are being repaid.
...by the tax payer, along with a nice big juicy bailout because no one cared about risk, and too much money was borrowed, inflating prices. Which means cuts in public services, loss of jobs and so on. So plenty will have had their fingers burnt, but certainly not the banks.
