It is their job to assess that the home suits their needs. Who are you to know that your home's unique selling point wasn't this burnt manky bit of carpet. Some people buy houses on the basis of horrid patterned carpets that remind them of their childhood home. Maybe your buyer lived a happy child in a home with an iron burned carpet. Don't shatter their dreams now

i agree! but if you really can't sleep at night, you could replace it with a cheap carpet.The_Blue_Hatter wrote: »There is no legal reason for you to change the carpet unless it happened after exchange. Morally I would repair the carpet but if they have knocked you for money over other silly things in the house then I wouldnt bother!0 -

There are people this sentimental about. Or maybe one of them fancies themselves as a handy andy and can 'make do or mend'. Someone from the OS board probably has a trick to fix it, lol. I think it was on this forum a while ago that a seller wanted to take some horrendous 70s tiled mantlepiece away with him and replaced it with a nice new one because he was attached.
I'm sure the buyers were gutted, not.0 -
I've just translated the original query into:
"I have an iron burn in the carpet and wonder if I can get away with not mentioning this to the buyer?"
My answer:
"You can probably get away with it, but it would not be right for you to try and do so. You know this. You are hoping that we will agree that it's not a bad thing to do."
Mine is not the answer you want. Mine is that you know you shouldn't be doing this, so don't do it.0
