Aww shucks you guys :blushing:
Planet chaos has now stopped spinning & we're back on planet Lula.
Ok, so that's not necessarily the most calm & serene place, but I know how it works there & I (mainly) control it * insert evil laugh*.
One more day & I would be wrung out with emotion - think I must be hormonal as well as I started leaking ( my eyes, not my bladder) when I was explaining the assembly to the Cockney Rebel & Design Dude. They looked at me suspiciously & slightly startled and I realised I need to get a grip before I lose my title as Grumpy's Henchwoman :rotfl:.
Work was manic as I was determined to get everything done & had 3 extra last minute assignments to complete too. I did it though & left feeling quite satisified. Grumpy has snuck in a 5 day break & the ever-desperate-to-please Goblin is dog-sitting for him.
I should be thinking how nice of her ... but instead I'm thinking how funny that she has to spend a week picking up her bosses dog's poo   .
So, I left on the dot of 1, whizzed home to collect DD from school & was a bit disappointed at how few parents from her year were there. I was hoping to see a few people as it was the last day of their time there but it seems that very few go there now.
DD hugged friends who are going to other schools & remained dry eyed while I was discreetly sniffing. Her shirt was covered in messages & I am never allowed to wash it.
Threw everything inside & drove back towards work area to introduce DD to the delights of Sainsbugs. I like it a lot & she was quite impressed at the random items at the end of each aisle & tried her best to get me to buy a digital camera for £20 ... I've already got my eye on one via amazon where I now have £24 in e-vouchers.
The total bill was £50.59 & all but £1 of that was on groceries. Some items were too bargainous to leave behind & most of that was to take away with us as we wont be eating out for each meal every day & I do need a lot of my healthy eating food to take or it will be all about pasties, cream teas & regaining every one of those 8lbs that I lost.
I seem to have stalled on weight loss for the last week. Gotta be honest, I've not been out walking or bike riding. Partly due to weather at the week end & partly due to being so busy during the week. I'm determined to get back on that track soon though.
As far as money is concerned, I've not added anything to the CC, but nor have I paid anything this week. The reason being that if I go over my cash holiday allowance, then I use my debit card & what's actually in the bank rather than the CC. I will take this with me in case of dire emergency only. Thanks to a manic home-job week & no cash spends which left a surplus from last week + ignoring every other fund I have managed to get the £350 together for spends :j. I may or not bring some back with me - although secretly hoping to.
I need to top up the fuel tomorrow & puff some air in the tyres & go to the bad place as it seems to be the only shop that sells the lush fat free yoghurts I'm addicted to. Not all bad though as I do earn some points & have a voucher for money off fuel.
I managed to speak to the cottage caretaker so my mind is now at rest & I'm looking forward to the delicious sounding welcome pack. all bed linen & towels are provided so that helps to cut down the packing & laundry. I haven't checked the forecast yet but we'll be away from home & routines in beautiful scenery with plenty to see & do so happy with that.
I'm off to have a bath now & then catch up with the rest of the diaries & try to suss out how to take the cap off the dongle.
Yep, I'm that stooopid :rotfl:
bye for now

Enjoy your holiday,,,can't wait to hear about your adventures.
Sorry no idea about dongles0 -
Thanks Taxi - not to worry about dongle if I disappear for a week, you'll know that either I'm still trying to work it out, or being seduced by cream teas
. Hope I can suss it as I dont want to miss out on any juicy survey earnings.
Thanks for all the riding tips - I think Moos one will fail on the grounds of having a mother who refuses point blank to get up at silly o clock however much free manure is involved, on the other hand I could implement the general idea at home. The place the party was at was BHS registered as we had to fill in load of consent forms. I did like the fact of their being a bar there too .
I've said that we'll investigate further once back from hol & all uniform & equipment. I do think every couple of weeks might be a sensible option & confess to being rather keen myself to have a go.
First things first though, no point signing up for lessons when I still have shed loads of stuff to pay out for. So thank you again for all the suggestions & I will digest them & contemplate more when the purse is due to re-open after the money drought is over.
G'night

Morning all,
was woken up at 6 by neighbours cat trying to barge his way in again. He got to the top of the stairs & was then presented with a squirt of water ( been meaning to clean mirrors all week & the sprayer was just sat there ) He wasn't impressed & scarpered. I don't dislike the cat, just the fact that it hasn't been neutered & it's not mine. I really don't want it marking my home as his territory. Our car seems a bit unsure as to what to do.
Anyway, it's a bright breey day today so one load of laundry is on the line & the other one about to finish. That will be it then for a week :j. Starting to haphazardly kind of pack stuff but also need to clean thoroughly as I always do before going away.
I'm not sure this is particularly clever considering that it is DD1 who is cat/home sitting. Last time I visited her place, I literally couldn't see the floor. I have no idea how someone who is so meticulous about her own hygiene, appearance & grooming can emerge from such a pig sty. I am semi-dreading what I will find on our return.
She called last night to ask if cat would be ok with a humungous dinner on friday night & no brekkie until we get home on saturday. She's been invited away for the weekend, but did offer for her bessfriend ( who I've known since they started school & lives nearby) to come round to feed him in the morning.
Bearing in mind that DD1 spent 3 months entering her own home via patio doors as Bessfriend had used her front door key to enter & then wandered off again with the keys & mislaid them for weeks; I think I'd rather the cat had a huge bowl of food & was a bit hungry when we got home. DD1 has also (to date) lost 3 sets of my keys whilst living here so I'm not convinced she'll still have them by friday :rotfl:.
Thank goodness the current BF is a firefighter; a few years back I went off to a festival overnight & left DD1 then aged 19 in charge of home & little DD. On arriving home at 7am the first thing I noticed was the overpowering aroma of gas . Old cooker didn't have safety cut out switch that new one does & it had been left on, all night.
She reminded me of that & I said that was why I was taking my DD, car & lappie with me.
Need to get on with hanging out washing, cleaning & packing now & then to download more maps & attempt dongling. I've extended this coffee break well beyond the 15 minutes I intended.
Bye for now ...0 -
I should be asleep but have been so busy today I need to wind down a bit first & I haven't seen Blade Runner in years.
I got 2 loads of washing dried, ironed & put away as well as enthusiastic vacuuming & tidying. I also spent some time printing off details of ore places to go, routes & also our tickets for the Eden Project. I've also checked out the forecast so I have a rough idea when to do indoor & outdoor stuff.
I got the dongle working :j so if you were hoping for a bit of peace & quiet in the evenings next week - unlucky. I nearly got my phone connected too, but at at the last step it all went wrong again
.
We had to whizz out to get yoghurts & another disposable camera & fuel up the car. Amazingly it took another £20 worth on board, must stop being such a revvy racer & think 'sunday, cap & Rover/Volvo'
I admit that the tyre pressure was a bit low so clearly not getting the optimum performance. This will be the longest journey I've done since having the car so hopefully it will do it some good. Inspite of printing off 2 different routes via rac, I've got out my trusty road map book & highlighter so co-pilot DD can easily spot where we are & direct me when necessary. Couldn't be doing with a sat nav, hate being told what to do.
I've packed most of the food & iceblocks are in the freezer ready for salad & cider transportation. DD is all packed & we discovered yet more clothes that no longer fit & that she has far too many too.
I have far too many clothes that still don't fit meso I really must step up the exercise. I'm dreadful at packing light. I was hoping to take just a small onboard size case, but DD just fell about laughing saying that it wasn't even big enough for my shoes. How rude
.
In my defence; when holidaying in this country & doing a variety of activities/expeditions then more stuff is needed. Not at all the same as going somewhere you know will be hot & only minimal clothing is required. We need jeans & jumpers as well as shorts & tops. I'm limited by size so can only take a small selection but what with books ( cue Kindle) & toiletries a small space soon fills up.
Nails all painted, driving outfit selected & after brekkie I just need to throw all my stuff in a case, then we load the car & head off - can't wait to explore new territory. We have a selection of CDs as radio yeovil kicks in far too soon for my liking & then wont leave again. I'll be creating a picnic for the journey down & we'll stop off somewhere that looks right. We're going on a different road than on previous trips so that all adds to the fun.
Guaranteed that by the time we come home I'll be wanting a camper van again :rotfl: I think my best plan is to just save loads of money & then just by whatever I see first that appeals - be it boat, camper or new shoes & holiday.
Must go to bed now so hope to be able to pop in at some point during the next week but if dongle fails to get reception, I'll be back next week end
Bye for now
