Broadband to be cheaper ?

Options
Caught this item on the BBC news yesterday.......
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12917639

and the OFCOM report is here.....http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/wlr-cc-2011/

Have already e-mailed my supplier ( Sky ) to ask them when I can expect my bill going down the same amount as the wholesale price.
I suggest that everyone does the same and keep the pressure on !

Sky is one of the cheapest broadband suppliers already. How low do you want the price to be. I don't think it can be less than free (up to 2GB usage). Do you want them to pay you to use broadband. Even @ £7.50 for unlimited usage it is quite cheap.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

    I would love to pay £ 7.50 !!!!

Trouble is that being on an exchange which has not been "unbundled" BB suppliers have to pay BT a wholesale price to use their equipment. Because of this the range of companies are limited and their prices reflect the BT price.............. My connect package with Sky is at £17 per month and that is one of the better ones !

The range of companies is not limited on unbundled exchanges, it just means that you cannot get LLU tariffs and pricing, and never will with the current ADSL technology. It's like complaining that your bus fares are higher if you live further from the town centre-it reflects the economics of supplying an LLU service.
You can certainly do better than Sky Connect on non-LLU pricing.

I understand that, but since I live in an rural area BT seem to have no set time agenda to unbundle the local exchange.

BT don't unbundle exchanges. If your exchange has no LLU presence then its because no other isp sees it as a viable investment.
Any exchange is available to unbundle by any isp if they choose to do so.

I think me asking Orange to reduce my £5 BT Wholesale resold Broadband Unlimited 6-7MB average speed with 1000 calling mins to 100 international landlines and 01/02/03 UK landlines numbers would be a bare faced cheek ! But for the rest of you - GO FOR IT !!!
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Most of the remaining smaller or rural exchanges in the UK will probably never be unbundled under the present ADSL technology. The potential customer base is too small to justify the investment. It's nothing to do with BT.
