I feed my dogs on raw meaty bones daily and I have to say they are in really rude health!

I feel a bones and raw food diet (you can find out how to in Ian Billinghursts book - give your dog a bone) and so 60% of their diet is made up of chicken wings, chicken carcasses, lamb bones and occasionally pork bones but not beef bones if I can help it.

The rest is made up of veggies, yoghurt, porridge, cottage cheese, oil and the odd bit of tripe.

I think as long as the bones are raw - dont ever ever feed cooked then you should be fine. I have 7 dogs and none of them complain.........

I give them bones, but not lamb one as they seem to be a bit splintery, they love a beef bone. It makes their teeth really clean and white.

Yes Oakley gets a big raw bone every day. He loves sucking the marrow out (some very strange noises though! :rotfl:). You can give raw chicken bones too, but never ever cooked ones.

Yep - it keeps him from "helping" with the gardening when he's laid splatted out on the grass, legs at comedy angles, blissed out in bone country.

When my Springer was alive we used to go over to the local butchers daily and he would always give Spencer a bone....

one bone would last him all afternoon until there was almost nothing left

I was wondering about this too! ;)

I sometimes get my dog one of these:
    http://www.vetuk.co.uk/dog-treats-hollings-dog-chews-c-223_601_621/mediterranean-mega-meaty-parma-ham-bone-p-4613

Or the bones that have been filled with something like this:
    http://www.vetuk.co.uk/dog-treats-hollings-dog-chews-c-223_601_621/hollings-filled-bone-treat-for-dogs-p-4590

But they seem a bit "fake!" to me and I'm sure they wouldn't be as tasty as a fresh juicy bone. I have a small dog 10kg so if I went to the butchers what would I ask for? Also do they have them at tesco butchers counter?

Could I just buy a chicken wing and give it raw like that? Are the bones in them not too small?

Sorry for all the questions and if that sounds a bit thick :( but I just feel like he's missing out not having stuff like that but am unsure what to get as I just want him to be safe too! :)

Yep, mine get bones. Keeps them happy, they sit at either end of the garden distrustfully eyeing eachothers up, then do a big show of standing in the centre of the garden glaring at eachother in a 'showdown' before each nabs the other's bone....Repeat again later....
Never would bite eachother, just both seem to think the other one's must be nicer!

Every time I have given our Lurcher a bone, she seems really out of sorts after eating it. Maybe because she eats it sooo fast I am not sure. I have stopped giving them to her now

Absolutely! my dog loves bones. We always give him raw chicken wings, any bones we're not cooking. We never give him cooked bones.

Dogs in the wild live on raw meat and bones, so its a bit like them going back to their roots.

I also give my dog some milk every saturday morning. He gets his dry dog food but wont eat that until he's seen if there are any leftovers from our meals!

He also enjoys eating bits of cucumber and tomato (weird I know), in the evenings when my husband is making our sandwiches for work. He doesn't like lettuce, but loves cauliflour. We give him a go on most things. He goes crazy for ice cubes!
