Thank you everyone. Last week upon appeal, I received a letter saying that the notice has been cancelled so I don't have to pay the fare.
Thanks for your help.0 -

Thanks for your help.
And thank you for closure of this thread, it's nice when OP's come back and tell us their outcome :beer:Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Hi, I am the user known as MikeWh on the site that yorkie2 refered you to. It's a shame he didn't post the full story when seeking my advice because I would have said different things had I known. I'm pleased to see that they quashed the penalty fare.
My main concern is that you were allowed to touch out after having a penalty fare issued. In effect that means that you have paid twice. I would be fairly confident that this could be used as mitigating circumstances had the PF not already been cancelled.
Did you also contact the oyster helpdesk? If it's not too late (they only keep history for 8 weeks) they may be prepared to refund you the difference between the fare you paid and the one you should have paid. As you will have a bus entry to back up your journey to Kensal Rise they should be satisfied with the details.0 -
I contacted Oyster helpdesk the next day and the did refund the difference.
Thank you.0
