It was a skip outside my own house for my house that the landlord ordered :( plus i was collecting the car from the mechanics because its due an MOT next week. MOT was up on 24th March. Until then i cant drive it because im not insured :( so i basically hit the car uninsured and cant expect to claim-not that they would touch me anyway :( i've cried all night.
Ah, that changes things somewhat. Well, it will only be a write off if you claim off your insurance. I'd suggest you don't...

Get someone else to assess the damage. If you were pulling in to your drive at relatively slow speed it might look worse than it actually is.

I was slowly reversing in a tight space my previous car a Ford Ka and just scraped the the rear side of my car on the corner of a brick wall. I thought it would just be a scrape on the paintwork, it seemed so minor and was gobsmacked to get out and see a massive dent where the bodywork had just crumpled in like a coke can!

Sold it on , without doing any work (which I was planning to do anyway as it had other work needed, but obviously got less for it) and the next owner had it checked out, then bashed out the dent, filled it and sprayed it himself and is happily driving round to this day.

If it's just bodywork, maybe you don't need a tip-top cosmetically perfect respray job.
  • So you were driving your car on the road with no insurance and you want sympathy, you were lucky you didn't hit another car.

    Yep thats what i said!

Thanks for all the help. My dad said when he seen that he thought it would have been worse. I did thank god no-one was hurt and that i didnt hit another car but the car hadnt left the drive and i was bringing it back from getting a service.

I know its only metal, and it just takes the loook of the 3 key marks someone done a few months ago :( my friend knows someone that does bodywork so hopefully he'll do it as cheap as possible.

    Could've been worse
