Ive found the Mirabella Maggie Sottero dress on ebay and while its not exactly the one i wanted (which is the Natasha from the new collection but would cost a fortune) its the same type of dress. Its brand new with tags and just a sample one for people to try on in the shop so may be a little dusty at the bottom.

The original price was $599 which works to about £380 which i think is a bargain for a genuine Maggie Sottero dress even though it is from an old collection.

Ive managed to get her down to $400 which is about £250. Shall i go for it??????

    Wow! It's gorgeous!
If it's what you like, then go for it! I think it's really stunning.

johannalf88, Your centrepiece ideas are almost exactly the same as mine, great minds! I want a large hurricane vase on each table, which we will put a large church candle in and surround with acorns and conkers, might try and get some artificial berries too. I then want to make a wreath to go around the vase, made of natural twigs and fur cones and maybe dried out oranges etc. Flower wise I’m hoping to get some lovely artificial ones, deep oranges with more berries and foliage. I want it to look quite rustic/natural.

A word of warning about conkers - they rot! We're getting married on November 5th and are having centrepieces involving conkers and pine cones. We collected a million conkers in September and then they started to go mouldy! We tried keeping them in tupperware - no good. Keeping them in a huge stash is no good either as the ones at the bottom start to germinate in the dark! Baking them in the oven seems to have worked and also cleaning them regularly with kitchen paper. We thought about freezing them but haven't got space.

Also, whatever you do, they lose their shine :-(

BUT they are gorgeous and autumnal! We've even got a bucketful of strung conkers for our guests to play with if they want.

We have vinegar ed ours and ovened them! Then put them in breathable boxes! They did rot quickly tho, before we vinegar ed them (we waited a week.) Had a strange look from tesco man when he delivered 3 litres of tesco value vinegar! :D

  • Well I've ordered the Maggie Mirabella dress came to £270 with delivery which im very pleased about. Can't wait for it to come now. Yay!!!
  • Thanks for that, I hadn't really thought about mouldy/rotten conkers-that wouldn't be a good look!! I'll have to check on the conkers that I have collected so far, I have kept them in my cool dry attic....I knew they'd lose shine, but was hoping to top up my conker collectoin with fresh conkers this time next year. Any tips on pickling conkers?! :o

Tips on pickling conkers... Don't do it inside! If u have a shed or something do it there... Or expect your whole house to smell of vinegar!! I left them in the vinegar for about 24 hours, then put in oven. I did not wipe off the excess, so there is a sticky film of acid on them, no mould will grow on there! :D

  • johannalf88 I have visions of guests at our wedding receptions with streaming eyes & that funny wheeze from all the vinegar vapour! :rotfl:

I will clean them off before I use them!! :) And maybe spray them with a nice smellin something just in case!
But I will really suggest soaking them elsewhere!
