still testing the Boots serum and hating the smell more each day, also skin dry in the morning:(
did a daft thing last night as got confused what time my dance class was and got in the shower at 7.05 thinking we had to go out at 7.45 when in fact that was when it started and we should go at 7.15:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: had to throw on some moisture surge and mascara and lippy and run out(plus clothes in case you wondered!)

got there as 1st dance started so ok...had a go at the viennese waltz again(slowed down) great fun feel like a princess being whirled around!

Morning all!! Am slinking in with my tail slightly between my legs this morning. I've fallen off the wagon due to the DTD promotion... I swear I just popped over to that board to see what all the fuss was about...:rotfl:

    and I've ended up with:
    IN
    Herbal Essences Uplifting Shampoo 400ml
    Herbal Essences Upfliting Conditioner 400ml
Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Shampoo 400ml
Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Conditioner 400ml
    Nivea Pearl deodorant
    John Frieda Volume Shampoo
    John Frieda Volume Conditioner x2
    Sure Crystal Deodorant
Dove silk glow shower gel x2
    Aquafresh toothpaste

But in my defence it was almost all free due to the dtd - the JF shampoo and conditioners cost me £3.50 for the 3, which I'd happily pay for it as it's one of my high street HG brands.:D

So, my new resolution is to avoid tesco for the time being as I clearly can't be trusted!

    I have some UU to balance it out;
Clarins toner - can't remember but think it was iris or something - green anyway - WIBA possibly - I'm not sure toner does much for my skin, so not sure I'll spend this amount on something I can't see much result with... but maybe if I used toner more frequently then I would notice a difference IFKWIM.

Serendipity Body Balm - I had to throw this out, started using it and it smelt awful - a bit like BO, which is clearly not what I'm aiming for...!

Dove deodorant stick - WIBA yes, but given that I just got 2 others on DTD it'll be a while yet.

Lush Vanillary perfume - I love vanilla and really wanted to like this, but just couldn't - there's something a bit too musky and old about it for me :( I've only tried it a couple of times, so it's an almost new bottle and it's going in the ebay/donate/present type box.

old exfoliating scrub gloves from boots - thrown as getting a bit old and worn, and I have two new pairs waiting in the stash. Would definitely buy again as I love these things - saves so much mess with scrubs!
2 old razors also thrown and replaced with shiney new ones from stash.

OK, am off to do my time on the naughty step - budge up all of you!!! I'll use the time wisely to catch up on the many pages that have appeared since I last checked in here!

Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine - what an absolutely gorgeous day!!!!!!!! :D:D

    Morning everyone

Belated Happy birthday Fixx -pleased you had a good one!

Hi Bev - have to say I'm a wrinkle-phobic, as such if someone tells me a produce will prevent wrinkles I'm willing to try it!! Sad I know - and the origin of a very large stash.

I like arnica and once got several of the other SBC gels in a TSV/OTO and so have tried many. The skin firming really did seem to have an effect on my arms when I was trying to loose weight. Or was that just my mind telling me so???

Have to say I do love Alison! Like the way she will say - if your 20, you done need this - but it could help you if your 35+. Unfortunatly, she does not say - scrappie, you have far too much already, just look in the cupboard/ under the bed and use that first!!! Wish she would - but that's why I have you guys now - right??!!

For the past 4 years I have been lucky enough to get an invite to the beauty bash in London in January. I must say it has always been fab - and have come away with sooooo much stuff each time. I'm talking full size products worth £60+ on the web from several companies. My biggist 'haul' was in 2009 when both mum and I came away with bags full of stuff. Had such fun on the train back north looking to see what we had been given! When we counted the cost it was well over £300 in each bag. Such a good day. BUT I DO NOT NEED IT, AND I WILL NOT MISS IT JAN 2012 :o

Have never ever got on with any LE product - don't know what's in it, but it's something that makes my skin react.

Love love love Smashbox (have been using it for years as I have family in the USA so am always over there). My other HG product would be ABC tea tree skinwash. Cannot be without it - EVER. If I could only keep one product this would be it.

Will always stick with Tova - I'm known for it at work now. Friends say they can smell when I'm in the department even if they can't see me!! Also, can't believe how many of my patients have commented upon the smell in the early hours of the morning - long after I put it on, so it obviously lasts on me. Friends tend to buy me a lot of the Grace range too - do not like baby grace!!

I think I will always stick to 'premium' brands for much of my skincare in the future, simply because I have such reactive skin that the ingredients in some cheeper brands cause chaos on my skin. That's not to say there are not good cheep brands - I'm just not willing to look hiddious for weeks on end trying to find the one that is right for me.

When I get chance I promise I will list my stash - I know I keep saying it, but life just seems to be getting in the way at the moment.

I think we could become good beauty friends bev!! But be sure to keep me away from 640!!! I'm fine on the high street - honest!!

Wow Scrappie the beauty bash in London sounds amazing - wish they would do one further up north!
I knew I was addicted to QVC when I knew my membership number and pin off by heart, and when I would stay up late for the launch show of a TSV. When I received a delivery I would hide the box under the stairs or in my wardrobe.:rotfl:
I used to love Molton Brown and MOP but sadly they have gone to QVC heaven! Unfortunately I still buy these brands off ebay or TXMaxx.
My biggest weakness is L'occitane but I do like Bare Escentuals although to be honest I hardly ever wear make up. I like OPI but hardly ever wear nail varnish (I did a few weeks ago for my birthday though).
I have tried Gatineau and Liz Earle (but have gone off LE a bit apart from the skin tonic) and have quite a bit of Decleor in my stash but for example the Decleor neck and decollete concentrate was very disappointing! I do like the Decleor Hydra Floral cream though and when I use up all of that I'm not sure I will find a cheaper alternative and to get the Hydra floral for any good value you usually have to buy a kit with several mini's in it, but this is how my stash has grown too big. :wall:
I have also impulse bought some Philip Kingsley but now I might sell it on ebay.
The postage rate has really put me off though recently and the TSV's used to be around £30-£40 and now they are £45-£50 and I have to ask myself would I spend that much if I was buying it off the shelf in a high street shop. Probably not. I like Alison Young - she is a very good sales person who has made me part with my cash many many times:o but when I watch now I tell myself although they are presenters they are sales people - just because it is on TV and they repeat just how wonderful an item is over and over again doesn't mean I NEED IT! I saw the show a few weeks ago with the new Emma Hardie range and I nearly bought the Moringa Cleansing Balm - only about £30:eek: and I thought "STOP! go and read how many cleansers you have on your stash list" Phew - didn't buy it but after so many years old habits die hard! Anyway, this thread has opened my eyes and kept my credit card safe. My only problem is keeping off the L'occitane website as they have really good sales! :D

Going to read my stash list again I think.....:rotfl:
Looking forward to reading yours Scrappie:)

Another UU, my large bottle of Vera Wang Princess. WIBA?: Yes, I love this scent but I have a 30ml unopened box yet to use and might try the perfume parlour oils first. In the meantime, I have put out the 1/2 finished Avon one to UU next. I have a clay mask on atm whilst I try to ignore the large basket of laundry leering at me from the other side of the room!

Having UU my S&G shampoo yesterday I've moved on to the dregs of a bottle that OH has disguarded. He has used really cheap supermarket anti dandruff stuff for years no problem, they've obviously just changed the formula though as he got part way through his latest bottle and suddenly has bad dandruff so we bought some head and shoulders on offer last week and that seems to have improved things already. Does mean there is a 1/4 full bottle of the old stuff and a whole new one too - I've decided I'll use up the part used one as I don't get dandruff and I want to get it used up and out of the way, might leave the unopened one in the cupboard for now though and then move back to the dregs of my Tigi pump.

Just seen on Facebook that Feel Unique (where I got the last lot of Tigi from) has a discount atm and so I've decided to order my new shampoo and conditioner tomorrow, when I'm spending other money, then I'll have got it nice and cheap and it'll be waiting for when I can scrape any more out of current bottles! So if I can spend £17.99 on shampoo and conditioner I like and know will last 6months+ I'll be pretty happy.

Looking at the rest of my stuff my main stashes seem to be bubble bath, but partly because I'm only 1 bottle through the 5 lots of M Brown my brother got me for Christmas and also have some S&G and then face masks, I've got 3 and they all have been used a bit - so I think my target is to ensure weekly baths and using of these products and continuing my staying away from shopping and therefore not being tempted by other stuff - well that's the plan....

:D I got such a buzz out of helping women's refuges via Give and Make Up. I know we all did.

If you read the Give and Make Up blog (link is now in my sig) it looks as if it will become much easier to donate unwanted /unloved / Tesco DTD :D toiletries to your local women's refuge very soon with regional co-ordinators. I don't drive, so reluctantly ruled myself out of being a co-ordinator, I would have loved to have helped.

What lovely, but useful, things to give, Footymadgal. :A

Kaz - great pics - I just need to work out how to enlarge them so I can have a proper nosey ! :rotfl:Your son sounds like fun!

<sigh> is it weird/sad that I kind of miss going to look for Glamour magazines in my lunch break LOL!!! And now that I'm avoiding TBS and Boots, I'm at a bit of a loss. Hopefully some nice weather and I can find a park bench and take my book.

Desperate need for retail saw me going home with EIGHT £1 easter eggs last night. I haven't worked out how many I actually needed it was more just grab and stash....remind you of any other problems....

UU a mini Champneys BB - was lovely - WBA but obviously no need to buy anything this year....:(
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

    Hey guys,

from my spot on the naughty step the guilt is setting in! Am realising that free toiletries or no, I can't keep getting more - it's partly to save money, but largely at the moment to get the stash down as it takes up too much room (and if it expands further my boyfriend may refuse to move in with me!!) :D

I definitely need more restraint around the deals I see on here - hilariously it's stuff I wouldn't know about if I wasn't on this board! So next time you post a deal, remind me that I especially don't need it!!! :rotfl:

So, I think my plan of attack it to make it more 'real' in my head almost - and the only way I can think of is to budget for toiletries which might make me think more about what I actually do spend. Now, obviously, for the moment budget should be zero as I really, really don't need anything, AT ALL, for at least a few months.

But realistically, what do you guys tend to spend per month/year on toiletries? And then the more sensible question - if you were trying to be sensible and only really buy what you need, with perhaps a very infrequent treat, what do you think is a reasonable amount to set?

I think if I added up what I spend a year I'll die of shock... so something has to change!

Also - what strategies do you find successful in resisting temptation? I think I need any help that's going!!!

My new 'definitely no buying toiletries in April' is starting today!!
    xx
