It has already been done- https://www.easypizza.com they are just 99p Chicago Town pizza's.

Just tried this using postcodes of 3 places I used to live, none have restaurants/takeways I could order from. Current postcode does have a few, all well established pizza places, so must remember not to use any of them if I want anything other than 99p CTP

That's just a list of pizza shops on just-eat. They are all hand made around here.

    Just looked at that site.
In my locality there are 4 outets.

Don't know them all (as I'm not a great pizza eater), but at least 2 of the four are independant pizza take-aways (with delivery service option), which have their own shops and make pizza's in house to order.

They appear to have signed up to that site as an additional marketing strategy (but you can still buy by phoning or visiting without going via the easy site)

Edit: Seems like at least a couple of other MSE'ers have discovered similar :)

Thanks for all your replies - sorry jexygirl my internet was broken for 3 days - i wasnt being rude or having second thoughts!

I didn't mean that I was going to buy them from aldi and bung them in the oven - i simply meant that i could prepare everything in advance, not necessarilly on the day of trade and then all i would have to do would be to put them in the oven.

I know lots of takeaway places that buy ready made bases and just simply add their own toppings - whats wrong with that??

I have been offered 3 different catering premises that do not open on the weekends and have been inspected by council, environmental health etc so all i would need is my health and hygiene certificate which i can complete at the college where I live so that's not an issue.

I was hoping someone might have had some experience in the delivery/takeaway service to give me a bit of insight about running costs etc.

i have applied at various pizza places where i live for delivery or restaurant work but all of them got back to me and said because i have a degree that im "over qualified" to work there

Quick note about food hygiene cert - there are plenty of online providers where you can do the course in 2-3 hours and £25. I've switched to online as my EHO is happy with them and it saves £85 and a whole day at the local college, plus they seem to be resigned to the training going online and only offer 1 course a year.

Brooklyn...the Business Link website is a very good place to start, allocate a sensible amount of quality time to read through the relevant sections. Call them for a chat if you have questions and book their free startup courses, they are very useful.

Amend your CV and keep pushing for relevant work experience, the franchises have tried and tested systems and learning them will save you many thousands of pounds in mistakes. Don't set up until you have got that experience. Catering is all about prep, prep and more prep...if you have everything ready in advance you'll be able to cope with a high workload, chances are there will be 2-3 hours 2 mights a week when you make all your money, you have to be able to meet that concentrated demand.

Write a business plan and work out what your key potential failure points will be. I think you'll be at the mercy of your delivery staff, if they don't turn up you'll be stuffed. Make sure you have a pool of flexible yet reliable staff basically.

Will you need to get any new equipment for the premises? A conventional catering oven may not be suitable as you will be opening and closing the doors all the time and it won't maintain temperature.

It seems odd that you live in a town with a college, yet there is no pizza delivery service.

Also you talk about preparing the pizzas a day or so before, so if you do take on one of these weekday only catering premises, you will either have to have your own dedicated fridge/freezer there, or will have to transport the semi prepared pizzas to the premises.
