Capping you usage - Orange PAYG

I have just moved from my orange contract to PAYG. I can get unlimited texts for £5 a month! I was paying £15.32 a month for this, on contract.

Anyway, cut to the chase...If I top up £10 a month, I get 100mb of internet usage.

Is there any way I can get the phone to automatically cut off or alert me when I am near the 100mb?

This depends on the phone I think. There are some apps for androids that meter data usage.

Your handset will have a data counter on it, so you could check that daily, weekly or monthly?
I'm sure I could access my PAYG for Orange and T-mobile which would show some sort of usage, I have used less than 45mb for the month and that is not being shy with the data :o

your phone should have a data counter on it somewhere, simply reset this every month when your allowance starts and keep an eye on it
  • I've found the counter. It's in bloody bytes though rather than megabytes so I have to count the 8 digits after!!

Also, there is a sent section and received. Which one am I meant to keep an eye on?

BOTH of them, there is usually a total as well, if not, then simply add the two together to gain an estimate of your usuage.

I thought it was just download data charge. I wasnt sure. so i downloaded a test 40meg file off my website, and sent a 10meg email. looked at useage a day later and just showed 40 meg(approx).
  • Call 453 option 1 and 1 again.. Tells you how much of the 100 MB allowance you left ans when it's used up.
