Default notices arriving in the post for Landlord

Are there any decent landlords left?
Lived abroad for years, came back and rented a house which we aimed to buy eventually, landlord was moving to France and was quite happy to rent to us for a couple of years then we would buy it once we could get a mortgage..6 months in, debt collectors turning up daily looking for landlord, got so bad we left.
Now onto our third rental and the cycle has started again.
We were told when we moved in that we'd still get some post for the owners as when they moved to Australia they didn't have time to redirect the post..:eek:
Yeah right, should have set alarm bells ringing but to be honest there was nowhere else for us to go to at the time as our second landlord decided to put the house up for sale so we had to leave.
The post we get for them on a daily basis is ridiculous. I've been putting it to one side but recently I've opened a few and there's default notices left right and centre and their mortgage statements whilst up to date thank god are still being sent here which suggests they haven't told the mortgage lender that they're renting it out and that they are abroad..
This makes me nervous as you can imagine and I have visions that if this isn't sorted out we'll be back to debt collectors banging on the door.
What should I / can I do?

Sorry I've amended the title..
We still have 4 months left of this tenancy agreement so moving isn't an option at the moment plus the cost of moving is ridiculous and having moved 3 times already in the last 18 months I really don't want too..:(
Whilst I appreciate they aren't my business is it acceptable for all of the landlords post to still come here when they live on the other side of the world, of course they have no control over junk mail that still comes in their name but there's bank statements, credit card statements from various different lenders and that's just this week, I have a pile that practically fills an entire cupboard.
If I leave it for the time being and do nothing what do I do once the debt collectors start turning up?
I'm a landlady myself and rent out my property in California, I'd be mortified to think that any of my post was still being sent there and causing problems for my tenants which makes our situation all the more frustrating.0 -

Yes I raised this with the estate agent who responded with "it's quite possible that their lenders are aware that they let out this property but are still happy to send the statements to the address as they can't send them abroad"0 -
Well, it's obvious that the agent are carp.
What can you d if the debt-collectors turn up on the doorstep? Keep some ID and your tenancy agreement handy to show them that you are not the party they are looking for. Then they should go away quietly.0 -
Mention the non-resident landlord scheme to the EA...ask if you should contact HMRC on their behalf...

Unfortunately they don't go away, this is exactly what we did in the first rental and they kept on coming..they even visited the neighbours to see if they knew where they were.
The letting agent that rented this property to us didn't give a damn either, they even rented a property to the landlord when he prematurely returned from France..turned out the landlord was living a mile down the road for the last three months we were there and the LA never let on even though he knew we were having dreadful problems.
Turned out the landlord assumed wed still buy his house which is why he didn't ask us to leave so he could move back in and I assume the LA didn't want to rock the boat cos of course hed lose his commission from the sale, they never protected the deposit either..:eek:0 -

Not uncommon. A landlord with consent to let would advise lender of address abroad. The lender may very well insist on a UK address. The landlord then has no address to give them. I've asked to see the landlords consent to let from their lender so we shall see.
I am aware of this being an issue though as when we moved to the States one of our banks wouldn't send our bank statements to a foreign address whereas the other one did with no problems at all, the mortgage providing is Santander and they were the ones that wouldn't allow us to have a foreign address for our bank account so it may well be the case but I'm not holding my breath.0
