pc world deal

Options
has anyone had experience of the compaq 2009 computer that pc world have on offer?
the sales man said that it might play the sims2"pets" game,
this is the type of game we would like to play on it. ( although as the boys get older the games they want may need more whatever computers need!!)

pc world also had a packard bell 2469 and a fujitsu 6405 with better graphics cards etc. but more money.

pc world is fairly local to us so would be easier for service etc.
any advice would be greatly appreciated as we do not know much about games specs.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Good deal overall then people?
  • Hard to comment on whether it is a good deal without knowledge of price etc.

I personally bought my PC from PC World and have not had any problems with it, but would recommend that you watch out for them trying to force warrenties, etc to you.

Service charges from PC World are also quite high in my opinion and do not really do a lot for you. As to playing future games, you will certainly find that you will need to upgrade again at some point if you want to play newer games etc, as they automatically bring out the games needing higher specs.

    Hi John
Well if it were me, and I could afford the small difference in cost I would go for the Comet deal. It is a dual core AMD type, and has twice as much memory 1g -v- 512mb, could not comments on graphics, and I dont think the dual layer DVD is the end of the world. Its certainly more future proof.
Everyone says go for the best spec you can afford, whether it works or not I wouldnt like to guess.:D

    Hi Fred

Sorry to confuse you further but look at this:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/116053

here is info on graphics card

    http://ati.amd.com/products/RadeonX1300/index.html

There is no screen but the latest dual core processor, 1 gb memory, and what looks to me like a decent graphics cards, though I maybe corrected on that. If you cannot run to the new screen immediately then you could use the old one, and at least have a pc that will definitely run your games, and get a screen as offers come on.
Most PC comes with a years warranty, and I have not heard anything bad about Acer service, but welcome anyone who knows better to add on.
Unless parts fail which is not common, most problems can be solved with help from this forum.

The more you look the worse it gets!

The Compaq 2009 has a more basic graphics system built in, and as it stands, will not play "The Sims 2" to a good standard (although it will play it with various settings turned down).

The Fujitsu 6405 has a better graphics card, and will play "The Sims 2" very well, along with the majority of current games.

Both computers are equally upgradeable in terms of their graphics cards, although the Compaq will need its current onboard graphics disabled for an upgrade to work.
