Ok so my day has started off a bit rough after a problem with my credit card but I will be doing the following things today to counteract that expenditure...

-am currently charging my phone at work
-brought fruit in for my lunch
-my survey balance is currently £25 so I think I may cash it for shopping vouchers!
    -paid another £100 off cc's
-going for a 60 min walk when I get home instead of the gym
-new shop has just opened up near me that pays you for your clothes so I will be filling a bag for them
-my friends & I usually go for a drink on a Thursday evening, but since I'm off alcohol for Lent, I'll just have a soft drink...also will walk to and from the pub
-only me for dinner today so a sandwich will suffice
-have made an appointment this morning at my local beauty college to get haircut tomorrow...fingers crossed they won't cut my ear off (I joke of course they're very good the last few times I've used them)

Will hopefully fit another few MST throughout the day, but that should get me started!!
    Savings: £2 Jar: £804/£1000

  • Morning all

Horrible rainy day here but it's payday for me :j

I'm having quite a good DFW day today : -
    • Pay bills online - after today's payments the evil debt stands at £1800 - yahoooooooooo under £2K at last.
    • Very low spend day - only £1 for some fruit at the local greengrocers
    • Checked banking online etc and all ok
    • Fiddled with my spreadsheets and saw a way to pay £12 more to the cc this month :D
    • All meals from stores today
Not a bad day I think. Tomorrow I plunge into the NSD challenge for April and I can't wait!

Have a good day everyone :hello:

    Hi everyone

Struggling to keep up with this wave we call life atm! Sorting the flat is a nightmare. Have about a metre of space and everything else is clutter - clutter to go to the skip, clutter to get stored in in-law's garage, clutter to take to charity shop, stuff to give to peeps and then just our general clutter lying around. Nightmare.

I'm not going to yoga tonight - feeling so poorly and totally bunged up - sinuses and hay fever and general allergies all mixed up - not good.

OH is spending a fortune working too - the irony! Bus fare is £4 a day + lunches + snacks (we can obviously sort the last two but need to go shopping first…) Ho hum.

    Anyway, I digress…
    • Bought snacks from supermarket for OH (as above ;) )
    • Breakfast at home
    • Bought unbranded paracetamol
    • Enjoying free drinks in work
    • Crisps from multipack (yes, I know I bought them for OH… :p)
    • Yoga teacher letting me carry a class forward to next block so will pay less then :T
    • Call mum - she retired today and sounds quite down about it :( also stitchy - what do you think about this?! Dad has 'nicked' her sewing room in the attic and is up there writing a book?!! Stealing her sewing space - think she mainly goes up there to get a few hours of peace so she is not amused. I think she should nick his greenhouse and take her sewing stuff out to his shed! Tut tut tut.

    Have a good day all!!

    Hi Tiggy

I must have missed your message in the rush of preparing for the interview. What subject do you teach? As I've said I found the interview difficult, was expecting questions about dealing with rowdy classes, behaviour, cirriculum etc but was very subject specific questions. They kept interrupting my answers as well, oh I don't know. I think this is my last chance for this year. Fingers-crossed. How are you finding the course?

    Hi Rock_cakes,

no problem! when i had my interview they asked really hard questions but i got into the top 3 out of 5 choices!

the course is really full on, im doing a 3 year course which used to be 4 years they have just squished it. so it means i am in full time either uni or teaching practice so when u meet people on other courses you will find you are doing so much more than them. my uni stopped doing a subject specialism but i am specialising in 3-7 years!

where have you applied for? most places got back to me quicker than they said! :)
Paying it all off in 2017:

    Hi Tiggy

I have applied in Scotland, just a one yr PGDE. I think I might start bugging them after 2 weeks. I looked at the list of applicants and I think there were 7 or 8 but not everyone had confirmed. So it really shouldn't take that long. Its one of those things that I need to stop thinking about but can't help but to think of it. Have you any idea of what you would like to teach?

I just want to be able to plan for next yr.

    xx

    hello everyone

today been quite productive actually. Had a meeting with boss lady today regarding bonus and she was lovely. I have put forward my statement, she is going to write a supportive statement (which I dont get to read :( ) and then it goes in front of a panel at the end of the months so I should hear in next few weeks.

On the downside - I am still the highest bidder on a rust bucket car on ebay with only 3 days left to go LOL. Only regreting it because I have been offered a fab 8 year old clio with only 28,000 miles for £900!

checked banking - all ok for tv licence coming off tomorrow.

Sorted out my NSD's for April plan

staying at work between finishing work and a meeting tonight so catching up on the comp and MSE!!

relax and play some zynga games and STAY AWAY FROM PAYING ANYTHING ON THEM!! Cant believe how easy it is to spend money on them without realising how much you are actually spending.

Catch up with last weeks episode of Vet School that I missed

    Check for freebies

Thats all for now....off to read some of the threads I havent caught up on in AGES!

  • Thursday 31st March is the first day of my new financial life. I sat down yesterday and wrote down everything i owe (Excluding my mortgage). I then worked out my action plan to get two credit cards and a MASSIVE overdraft paid off. I realised that i will be debt free by December 2014!
I know its still a while off but i can see it sitting on the horizon and i can't wait to get there. I love reading this site for advice and find all the people who contribute inspiring !!!!!!:money:
