NSD#7 for me today- was convinced it was number 9 until I checked back! :(

So, not quite halfway to my target for this month :o Not sure I am going to reach it, but will do my best.

One thing that I have found this month, is that I am definitely spending less, as I have already paid for DS's guitar lessons (£61) and swimming (£84) on top of the usual bills, but didn't have trouble finding the money :) I still have tennis to pay for but that can come out of next month's pay if necessary. It does make me wonder what I used to do with all my money before!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather :D

That was exactly the reason I joined this challenge - I had been keeping a spending diary and was astonished at the amount of little spends I made on 'essentials' particually at lunchtime that really added up. Saying that, I have been rather naughty in the past few months, making bigger spends on the excuse that 'well I've saved £ not buying the £1/£2 things' slap wrists and reigning that one in :D

Weather here today is unexpectedly sunny and quite warm - washing out and considering mowing the lawn after the football. Anything to keep me away from the shops ;)

Hi Kerry, welcome to the NSD thread - I'm sure you've gathered that we're a very supportive, if slightly insane bunch on here

For this challenge the rules are bascially up to you - some people count everything including dirct debits that come out of the bank, others have certain exclusions. I used to count all cash and card spends, but not DD as I budget for these already. I have recently modfied my rules so I don't include petrol spends (let's face it, who'd buy it unless we need it) and milk (we tend to go through gallons in the house and given the amount of tea I drink it's a bit of a necessity). I do count any other spends, whether in store or online. There are some 'guidelines' on the front page if you fancy a squizz.

We don't really have any rules - the one we do have, is there is never ever any use of the F word - no, not Gordon Ramsey style, , we never ever fail....we just sometimes don't meet our target when life gets in the way but and NSD is an achievement

So welcome aboard and enjoy the ride

Having a lazy day today...overdid things in the garden yesterday, so suffering a bit today :(. In fact everyone in my household, is feeling quite lethargic today...need to get some bread made as well as the ironing...should be potting plants up later...not sure how much I'll manage to get done in the end :o.

    Have a good day everyone.

hi , we have a strict grocery budget and i keep all receipts so i know what were spending on grocery's before we leave the house , I do a weekly shopping list and add it all up and we try to keep within our limit some weeks we do go over slightly ( by about £10-£20 ) . its just the trouble with nipping out to the local tesco's express & one-stop shop and local post office that cost's .. or if i nip into town i will visit marks & Spencer's to get the children some items they need , well i think they need . so this will be a great challenge for me and my husband .. no more quick nipping to the local Tesco and all those shops on our town , they all add up and the bank suffers at the end of the month just before my husband gets paid . plus its the bloomin cash point £10.00 here £10.00 there .. im not sure on my plan as yet and how we are gonna work it out , but we will . we have a budget and we are aware of all the outgoings etc , i also do an estimate monthly statement so i can see where our money is going per week/month and how much we should have left over after everything has gone out etc ... so it will be good to put an even tighter rein on everything ,( including the children asking for this and that which needs to STOP !! ) .

    thankyou money saving expert ..
