    Declaring today as NSD #5

I had to part with cash to enter the race, but I'd put that away yesterday to be sure of having the correct cash ;)

Race didn't go to plan though :(
Not sure if I increased my mileage too much this week, or if it was just the (unexpected) speed I kicked off at (or a combination of the two) but I felt a muscle start to pull by the 2.5 mile mark. The race was a series of loops and 3 mile mark was at the start/end, so I managed to keep going to there and then pulled out. Not a total disaster though, as it was the fastest 3 miles I've ever done - and that was even after having to walk up an incline just before I stopped :)

Well early start (for me) today - was up at 6am to get sorted for the car boot. Although it was a schorcher weather-wise (the nicest it's ever been when I've done one) the customers seemed to be slower today - and everyone wanted something for nothing - 'how much?, 50p, I'll give you 10p':mad: After taking out the entrance fee and float I prob made nearly £50, which is nearer £30 after i take off the cost of my half of the table (which was a fab investment though and will deff get more use) That's prob the least I've ever taken but as OH says, better than a kick in the butt, plus now I've covered our table investment I'm happy. Just need to obtain some more stuff for next time.

That's what happened at the last one I went to - I always try to go with the "as long as I cover my costs" attitude and anything else is a bonus (and at least some junk cleared out of the house) - however, I won't let good stuff go for 10p, I'd rather keep it for the next one. 1st on "of the season" next week for me so fingers crossed.

I totally agree about the mindset of covering costs and everything else is a bonus. This one (and it's a large well known one in the area) charges £12 per car (just gone up from £11), so myself and my friend split that £6 each, plus covering the cost of the table today means that's paid for itself already.

Just finished sorting and reboxing / bagging everything up for next time so I have more of an idea of what's in what box (had kinda forgotten over the winter months) Had to give things a wipe off too, it was sooooo dusty - my poor little car looks like it's been on safari :rotfl:

Everything safetly up in the loft - prob won't get time to do another before hols but there will (hopefully) be a nice long summer ahead.

Good luck with yours next week - hope you have some good weather for it.

  • Oh dear. I haven't done very well so far this month. :( After a very expensive weekend away and a large credit card bill pending, I really really really need to pull my belt in  So far I've managed to clock up a single solitary NSD, so it's going to be an uphill battle to hit target by the end of the month!

Now off to read up on the thread so far in hope of inspiration :D

  • Hello everybody! Wasn't the weather lovely this weekend!:)

I spent the whole of today out in the garden, reading and bit of gardening (until the blisters came up - I've clearly gone soft over the winter :rotfl:).

Unfortunately I missed a bit on my back applying sunscreen so I have a patch of sunburn about the size of a pack of cards :( not clever with my nicely pale celtic skin, and since my mother has been having a couple of suspect bits cut off every year for the past few years I'm now generally super careful - it's just not worth it.

Anyway I had a NSD on Saturday, and was well on the way to getting another today, only got "persuaded" to drop into our local for a early evening pint. Worth it though :rotfl:

4 NSDs so far (1/3 through the month and the 1/3 through my target, looking OK . . .)
