Hi everyone!!!
Yay the suns shining and i'm a happy bunny!
Nothing like seeing the yellow in the sky, to brighten up your day.
I mean to come on Friday and say my NSD's for this month. But i got distracted:o and decided to go swimming for the first time in 10 months. I was in so much pain it was unreal, coddy (DS1) had to help walk into the showers. But it has helped the muscle build up in my leg.
So i'm a bit undecided about what to do as i'm planning to go swimming at least once a week, although its money i don't have but i need the exercise. As
a) its way of expanding my lung capacity (my asthma's getting worse)
b) its another exercise to get my leg up and running again (its been 10 months now since i broke it and i'm sick now)
c) snips (ds2) is learning how to swim
d) i've forgotten how to swim
So although the swimming is not essential, i think i NEED it rather than WANT it. So what do you all think i should the swimming as an spend or a none spend.
Realistically if i can get out of swimming i will, as i hate being in pain. But the only way for me to get well enough again is to swim.
Hmmm so i'll go for 10 this month, as the nippers are off school this month.
Well better get sorted, have to go my nieces birthday party.
Have a good all x0 -

Have a good day all :hello:

I wouldn't count it as a spend - it's rehabilitation after all- not as though you are giving into the temptation for retail therapy.

Good afternoon all!
Got #1 out of the way yesterday, and going for another today. I'm trying very hard not to spend unnecessary dosh this month as we're trying to conserve as much as poss for our holidays next month.
Going to Mum's later with her present. I didnt buy flowers as I agree with you Kerri, they are such a rip-off for Mum's Day, it really annoys me! I got her books and smellies instead!
BTW - what are the Shaolin Warriors? - I'm intrigued!
Beanie - sounds like a lovely day you had, good for you!;)
And Keiss - pass me one of the choccies - I like dark chocolate thanks!:T
Have a fab day everyone - (((hugs)))) to all - whether you're a Mum or not:)
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -

Hello everyone
Got a bit sidetracked last month...it didn't start well (Iggy) and it didn't end well (DTD!) but still managed 16 NSD's for March
I am going to go for a modest target this month of 14 NSD and then I can extend my target if I do well...
So........today is NSD number 2
Hope all of you are having a lovely mothers day xBe the change you want to see in the world - Gandhi

As you can see there is lots of activity on this challenge at the moment and it's difficult sometimes to see how many NSDs you're all declaring on posts.
Could I ask you to highlight your number of NSDs in a colour and in bold so that I can see them easily when I whizz through the posts - red would be best but I don't really mind as long as I can see the numbers easily.
Some helpful suggestions and ideas to follow below from our sponsor and godmother, BigMummaF :ANO SPEND CHALLENGE.
1. Have a good, long think about what YOU want to include in your Spend & Excluded categories.
Some of us count everything from Direct Debits & school expenses, while others do not include things like essential Bills or emergency medical costs. If you plan what is or is not a Spend for you now, it will help you decide on a realistic Target.
2. It is NOT a race!
We all have very different demands on our time & bank balance, so please do not think you have to buy everything on 1st January & make it last till 31st December! A few of us have been following this Challenge for a long...long...LONG time so have developed plans & ploys to help us along the way
3. Most important of all, WE..DO..NOT..FAIL!
Sometimes we can't quite reach our Target, but that is fineEveryone knows how Life will try to trip us up, & that is when you will find us here to help you back on to your feet.
OK, an idea of how some of us do things.
1. What you will or will not include as a 'Spend'.
Some people are doing other Challenges too, & don't include the money spent on those for this one.
Some will try to shop for other bits on the days their direct debits etc go out of their bank accounts; they're the real hard core of the bunch& have been l-o-n-g time Nsders so don't panic
Some won't count those annoying last minute demands from school & collections as you can't plan for them in advance, likewise emergency prescriptions or visits to the vet
Personally speaking & providing I don't buy anything else, I don't count parking for hospital appointments.(..but then I usually do my shopping because I'm already out )
General thoughts on €bay sales is the buyer has paid P&P so no cost to you
2. It takes Time to reach mega-numbers!
The First suggestion is the first, because a bit of planning will work wonders on your road to your Target. Have a look at Solvent's (aka Spoon:rotfl:) first posts each month for a hefty list of other Threads that may be of help. For example, there's a few giving ideas for packed lunches so you can avoid standing in the queue at the bakers for 45mins of your lunch hour! A good incentive to tweak your healthy eating & the pounds you save will show in your bank balance AND your waistline
It helps to have various 'money pots' for the different costs that happen like Scouts, dinner money, yoga, window cleaner etc etc. The idea is you "spend" all that money in one hit by....let's say **putting the week's bus fares into the pretty coffee jar, Jo's tumble tots SIZE=2]Weds mornings[/SIZE in the cracked teapot & Ben's £1 coin for the gym locker SIZE=2]Friday lunch[/SIZE in the pocket of the changing bag, on Tuesdays every week when you've got some change from doing the food shop, so an already spendy day. At least four 'spending days' condensed into one(**mine's jam jars for windows, milkman & a bit towards the bills!)
3. Any day the money stays in your pocket is a bonus!
If you look at it as a day you beat the system, you can't help but :j so don't fret it--ENJOY! If nothing else in here, we do manage find something to make us smile
We have virtual outings to wonderful places that never cost us a bean :rotfl:New York, Edinburgh & Brighton have been a couple & Spoon usually pilots the Tardis but you can use your own transport; my personal favourite has been a sit-on lawn mower borrowed from the cricket clubThe only thing to be aware of is Hubert the donkey who is partial to anything remotely edible but is not yet house-trained
And Remember;
there are no silly questions, so don't be afraid to ask us anything!"If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"

Oh well April must be better than March. Declaring 6 NSD's for March and aiming for 15 NSD's in April. I'm banned from work for a statutory 21 days because one of the kids I teach has measles. I got the call yesterday to confirm that as it's a notifiable disease and as the blood test has shown I'm not immune I'm at home. (Oh the joys of being the pre-MMR generation). At least 2 weeks are holidays ones anyway. The only advantage (as long as I don't get spotty) is it will keep me out of the shops!
As a result NSD 1 today.
Major bonus yesterday though as had gone to the clar*s outlet shop to get new shoes for DS (He has boats for feet! Size 13F at age 5!!!. Don't know when it will stop!) Anyway found one pair which must have been marked wrongly as they were £11 when all the others the exact same were marked as £22! Nothing wrong with them either. MiL also bought him trainers there for £9.99 instead of £32! :j
