problems with 3 coverage indoors and in my area
i wonder if anyone can advise.i have been with 3 for years. since i changed to my blackberry in november i have no signal at all indoors. i am absolutely at the end of my tether with 3. my husband has the same problem with his iphone. we cannot receive calls, make calls, text or go on line in doors. we have previously had no problems before we changed to these new phones. i have spent hours talking to 3 and no further forward. i am insulted to have been offered £5 discount on the two phones. That means we would be paying £45 for both phones instead of £55 for phones we cannot use for any calls or receive calls. I have finally wrote to Oftel as 4 letters to 3 have been ignored. Speaking to a foreign call centre gets me nowhere.
Can anyone advise what i can do other than stop paying the bills and get blacklisted? All i want is to be able to make a call or receive a call. if i want to make a call i have to go down the street. I can see me being stranded somewhere or in an emergency situation and not being able to get in touch with someone.

Just about to give up!

Perhaps you were roaming on Orange at home before, Orange are closing base sites down and merging into the MBNL sites T-Mobile & 3 owned before the T-Orange merger and 3 are closing roaming off where they *believe* 3 signal is strong enough.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

I have a similar problem with 3 but mine is to do with their mobile broadband not being no where near good enough as they advertise it, I have wrote letters rang them etc and getting the same response " your average speed of 3/4 to 1 meg is good enough" in some places it is slower than the old dial up.
I have four other mobile phone contracts with 3 which I will now not renew because of their attitude.0 -
Your first problem is that 3 (or any other provider) will not guarantee a signal indoors so that won't help you in your dispute.
That aside, this problem (from your description) has only appeared since you bought new handsets that would appear to not be equipped with as good an RF section as your old handsets, something that a friend & I have noticed when we are in our local (he can't get a signal on his iPhone 4, whereas my SE Xperia works fine on 1 bar)
The performance of the handset isn't down to your service provider, that is dictated by the manufacturer at the R&D stage.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
First of all, get out the old phones and try those. If you get signal in those, then it is just the phone (as said above, some phones are better than others for signal).
If that fails, then it is probably down to Three turning off the ability to roam onto Oranges 2g network in your area. They have done this where they think their own 3G network is good enough, but this isn't always the case. If this is the situation, then they should let you out of your contract (or at least give you a discount).0
