Hi guys
Am having a nightmare with my PC and I really need it to do some work.
Last night, I got a virus (Antimalware Doctor i think) I have used MalwareByte and other software, spent hours on it but nothing helped so this morning I decided to go for master reset. Unfortunately, this doesnt work either, I insert my CD, go into BIOS and choose Cd/DVD drive, everything looks Ok for a few seconds but it just crashes constantly on "Setting up first time use" screen. Then it says it will restart itself, which it does, but only to crash again.
If I went to PC world or wherever and purchased Windows 7 Full CD and started from scratch, would this do the trick ?
Thanks guys.

Consider an open source operating system, Puppy Linux, Ubuntu (someone more tech savvy could probably advise better) so that you can make back ups of your files (MP3s, photos etc.) before trying to reinstall Windows, as reinstalling will wipe everything!
Did you not make a recovery disc when you got the computer?.....0 -
Yes I did Dave but its not working at all (was the first thing I made when I bought computer)
All my files are on an external hard drive, so all is safeOriginally Posted by Dr Cuckoo3

What sort of OS installation do you have off a retail windows cd or factory supplied .
Windows retail CD can boot from CD drive and install WIPING ALL Data on the c drive .
Factory supplied its usually either a setup/recovery discs or a number of boot up commands to reinstall to factory state from hidden partition .Again wiping all data on the C drive .
Unfortunately, this doesnt work either, I insert my CD, go into BIOS and choose Cd/DVD drive, everything looks Ok for a few seconds but it just crashes constantly on "Setting up first time use" screen. Then it says it will restart itself, which it does, but only to crash again.
Is this a factory reset disk ??
Personally i feel its crashing to early in the setup to be just a virus problem .
A format of the C drive will wipe the virus and all data you can then install clean from factory disc .

Yep I agree with the above. You should try starting in safemode to see what happens. It maybe getting to a certain point, then failing.

thanks guys for your answers, appreciate it.
I am using a cd i downloaded from the internet. Cant remember where from, but was reputable (have tried so many things today)
When you say factory reset disc, do you mean one that came with PC? I never had one of those.
I will go to PC world or wherever in morning to buy one. Or maybe Ebuyer (not ebay)
Im quite happy for everything to be erased.Originally Posted by Dr Cuckoo3
