T Mobile Fonesafe insurance

Hi all

Back in Feb/March 2009 I took out an 18 month contract with T-Mobile for a new phone, and stupidly took their offer of 'Fonesafe' insurance, for an extra £6.99 a month.

Come September 2009 I was in Spain and had my phone stolen. I managed to get through to T Mobile in England to cancel my sim card, and the next day I sat in a clammy Spanish police station for over an hour to report it. That's about all I could do at the time.

When I arrived home, the very same day I called Fonesafe to make my claim, armed with all my police documents ready to send them off. Fonesafe said they wouldn't pay out, because I was claiming too long after the phone was stolen (I cant remember what the deadline was, but it was something like 3 days). Now this was an impossibility with me being in Spain without my phone insurance forms, but I bit my lip and asked to cancel the policy and bought a new phone.

Fast forward to this month when I'm checking my bank statement, and notice Fonesafe are still charging me £6.99 a month, despite not only cancelling the policy, but am 6 months into my new phone contract! Not only can I not get through to Fonesafe without a policy number (I stupidly dumped all the paperwork thinking i'd done with them) but also I can't find any contact address for them. Can anyone suggest what I can do? I've paid over £125 for insurance i've not received now!

Cheers in advance

Dave

Are you sure that the new phone came without the insurance (free for the first month as usually)?
Homecare Insurance Limited offices are located at Holgate Park, Holgate Road, York, YO26 4GA. You can contact us on 0844 848 5637. fonesafe is an insurer which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority
  • Made sure I didn't take out any kind of policy with them, new phone is on Tesco mobile (and they were a lot less pushy!)

Normally you don't need the policy number and the postcode is sufficient to identify your policy.
