Last pay slip and tax

I've just had my last payslip and will be redundant as of tomorrow.
My pay for this month consists of my normal basic pay as well as 12 weeks worth of pay in lieu of notice. So it's quite a large amount.
My question is, will the tax on this be correct or should I be trying to reclaim some of it? I worked in a big organisation with a decent payroll office, and was PAYE so they usually get things right but as this is my last one, and it's the end of the tax year, I'm not sure.
And if I should be trying to reclaim some of it, how would I do that?

No unfortunately as it was paid in 2010/2011 Tax Year it will be treated as earnings for that Year regardless of the fact it relates to a period in 2011/2012 Tax Year.0

As we're at the end of the tax year, it should make things easier for you to work out. Your final wage slip should have your cumulative totals for the year to date.
Go to Google and type in PAYE calculator and select the top link. Type in your totals (remember to select the current tax year, not next year) and you should then have all the information you need to work out if you have overpaid or not.
If you happen to be due a refund, you can claim this through your local tax office. However, due to the time of year, expect to wait longer than usual for the cheque.Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -
