How to get broadband?

Hi,

my OH was offered company flat for the next 6 months in Bedfordshire area. Is there anyway we can have broadband in that flat for the next months?
I am not sure whether this flat has any phone line at the moment

Any suggestions please?

thanks in advance

Phoneline would be a starter! :D

Don't think you can get contract for under 12 months for broadband any more (without penalties). Virgin.net used to do it, but stopped it in mid-2005.

Best way to do this is, assuming you have BTBroadband at your present address is::

    Get BT Line.
    Get BTBroadband
Live in flat for 6 months.
    Move back to current address.
Tell them that they can't transfer the service to that address as you already have it from them.
They shouldn't charge you a cnacellation fee then, as they won't be able to provide the service as you already have it.

Worked when my OH moved in with me.
    British Ex-pat in British Columbia!
  • thanks withabix :T i will give it a go
  • With Metronet the contract can be for just one month but there is a £47 connection charge.

This is PAYG broadband but a very good service

BT WILL and should charge you. You're in breach of the terms. The OP is right in saying they can't provide it, if the line already has it. But this is of no fault of BT, they are willing to provide it, its for reasons caused by YOU that prevents them doing so.
