Just for reference, on a £7 ticket for a blockbuster movie, the cinema may get as little as 35p - they need the popcorn and drinks revenue to pay staff wages, rates, electricity, etc., so they want extra popcorn munchers through the doors!!

We went to a restaurant last year as a group when the menu was 2 for 1.
There were an odd number of us (15) and they completely refused to allow us to order the free 16th meal.

also then makes things hard when theres an uneven number of you. ill often go out in a group of three, and theres load of restaurants near us which do "two-for-ten" offers, and theyre always the restaurants where you pay on order, so harder to split the bill
although the guy thats out with us will often eat a massive steak which isnt on the offer anyway, so problem solved!!

This always confuses me as my local cinema charges £2.50 Mon-Thur and £3.50 at weekends, however new the film. They don't charge stupid money for drinks and snacks either, so they must be making profit somewhere???
