Hate 2 for 1 deals

I hate 2-for-1 deals, they are completely discriminatory!
I like going to the cinema on my own, do an activity on my own, even going for a pub lunch on my own, but I always have to pay full prices.
Couples using 2-for-1 only pay for one person.
Why can't companies replace them with 50% discount vouchers? It's exactly the same value.

If the 2 for 1 offers were replaced with a 50% off voucher, then everyone would get the discount and it would mean the company concerned would lose a fortune.
Something that you must also take into account is that in the case of things like pub lunches, one person is eating free but there would still be two people paying for drinks, so this would cover some of the cost of the freebie.0 -
Because companies would rather attract two customers than one, particularly restaurants where even on your own you would be taking up a table for two. You aren't their target customer so they don't aim their offers at you, but maybe you could contact them and suggest that they run offers which suit you more - it can't hurt.0

How far up north ? I'll come with you0

Pizza Hut & La Tasca sometimes have 50% off offers, there's currently a £5.95 pizza offer at Pizza Express, and often set menus at Ask, Strada, etc for £10 or £12. I'm sure there must be some deals out there if you look. Not as many as 2 for 1s, for the reasons mentioned above, but sometimes...0

That's the exact reason. Pubs and resautrants make their money on the drinks mark up. Cinemas make their money on the sweets/popcorn/drink mark up. visitor attractions make their money on the fast food/drinks mark up.
The bottom line is it's the extras they make the money on, not the principal offer. It's the same with supermarkets. Ok there are some loss leaders, but there are also things like bogof on pasta sauce, but that then means you will buy twice the quantity you would have of pasta (which has a bigger profit margin).

Why not ask a friend to go with you0

The OP has quite clearly stated they like to go on their own!

Ok, I understand your/the company's points now.
Still, it doesn't mean I agree with it, hehe
And yes, I could ask a friend, but I do enjoy going on my own, especially the cinema!Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -
Did you see the Odeon half-price voucher offer? Check out the Discount vouchers forum. It's been on for a week or so but ends tomorrow (31 March), unfortunately.0
