Ipod Mini official price drop + larger capacity

Apple today lowered the price of the ipod mini to £139.00 for the 4GB model. They have also introduced a 6GB model for £169.00. Battery is improved (still not up to the standards of its competitors) to (up to) 18 hours.
The ipod photos have been updated as well.

Although these are new ipods they are not the next generation in ipods.
Good time to buy if you are in the market for one.

i bought myself a mini ipod on 3rd feb and paid £179 for it and so im sure you can imagine im a bit gutted to see they are now £139!!! does anyone know if apple offer a price match with themselves for a month after purchase??? I bought it from an apple store in Birmingham.

do you think it would be worth writing to apple stating my grievence???

    all advice would be appreciated....

    Thanks,

First speak to the manager of the Apple store where you purchased the iPod telling him of your grievance then if you get nowhere bang out a letter to the MD of Apple UK giving him the old "can't believe you'd do this to a loyal Apple customer" line..

Often when large companies cut the price of high profile products in this manner they offer backdated part-refunds to those who've purchased them in the past x days/weeks to keep customers onside, surprised they haven't done something similar in this case..

    Good luck!

what extra features are the next generation ipods going to have??
  • No one really know apart from the staff at Apple. There are always rumours, some which are common sense (bigger hard drive ect.) some just wishful thinking
    current rumours include:
    -Bluetooth enabled ipod
    -color screen on all ipods
    -new games.......
    ...just to name a few.

I just got this email from someone about the Regent Street Apple store:

In case you are in the market for a new iPod, Apple are refreshing their range and there are some good deals to be had on the older spec models during the change over. The star buy round at the Regents Street store is the 40Gb version that is down from £299 to £229 while stocks last. iPod minis are down from £179 to £125 before the new versions get bigger drives and double the battery life.

Well i have spoken and emailed the manager of the shop and it looks like a no go area, as this is the response i got:

    "Thanks for your email.

Unfortunately resellers like KRCS are given absolutely no prior warning
to Apple product announcements. We find out at the same time as the
general public when it appears on the UK AppleStore online, therefore
our staff are unable to give any advice on future changes in the Apple
    range.

As such KRCS have done nothing either professionally or morally wrong
which would warrant a reimbursement of any kind.

Feel free to call me if you wish to discuss the matter further.

    Regards

I then email Apple and i got this reponse:

"Thank you for contacting Apple Store.

I am sorry to hear that you feel cheated in your purchase of an Apple iPod Mini from our authorised resellers in Birmingham. I can offer the following explanation.

Apple Computers guards details of new products, product transitions and repricing very closely. This, as I'm sure you can appreciate is due to corporate and industrial sensitivity. The price reduction and new iPod was released this afternoon at 1.30pm GMT and very few people, even at Apple were aware of this.

The shop where you purchased your product would not have known about this upcoming transition or the new 6GB iPod Mini. As your purchase was not made from Apple Store UK online, we are unable to offer a refund for this. I suggest that you contact the retail outlet where you purchased this product and they may be able to assist you.

Apple regrets any inconvenience caused to you by this issue.

    Kind Regards,

    Suzanne

Does this mean i was just unlucky or is there anything else i can do to try and get a little bit of money back???

    Please help me....!
