Aargh car insurance

Options
I just got my renewal quote through and it was (as always with renewals) ridiculous. So I went on all the price comparison sites etc...

The cheapest quote I can get it just over £1k on a car which is 5 years old and worth < £2k. I have 5 years no claims so I can only assume this is because I'm 26.

My insurance last year though was £461!

I actually can't afford this so it'll be bye-bye car. At least that'll be some cash to pay off more debt...

Bear in mind that the price isn't only related to the value of your car.

A £50 banger can cause just as much damage to other cars, property and people as a more expensive car can.

Over the last few months the news has been full of articles about car insurance going up by over 50% since last year after big rises last year.

So in summary- the below right?

    5 years no claims,
    26 years old
    Car worth <£2k

What about convictions? Lots of points or serious offences.

Unless the use is about 55k miles a year and you are a rep, which bungs it up or you live in Baghdad, I can't see why it is so much?

I have less no claims bonus (but no accidents), more expensive car, and similar age with business use on 15k a year. Still only £600.

I have no convictions, have had no accidents and have no medical issues... I do about 5,000 miles a year

So I don't understand it either. I can only assume the Manchester postcode is screwing me over though I don't see anyone wanting to joyride in my car!

Try the companies that don't advertise via price comparison sights. Try a broker or try some companies direct

i have to admit i find that a bit shocking, i was just looking for me and at 28 (male) 5 years NCB on a 2k car i am looking at about £300, just a interesting query what are you actually driving?
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

I think it must be the postcode is doing me in. I do live in Manchester inside the ring road. Cheap rent but :s

Would adding my Mum or Dad to the policy help do you think? I can't add my OH - he's only just been cleared by his doctor to drive so I dread to think what he'll cost :o

After many people saying their insurance is higher this year, my insurance is due in June, so I ran the details and it was only £326, £10 more than last year. Knowing my luck it end going over £500 in June.

This was me being a male, will be 29, 12 years held licence, 8 years NCB, clean licence, 5000 miles a year, and the car is in group 10.
