Missed/late payments
Hello, wasn't sure where to put this...
The short of it is that I had to re-set up my direct debit payment on a phone I don't use at the moment [work phone and not working as on maternity] and O2 didn't take the payments they should have done. Didn't find out till I noticed £550 disappear from my bank account in a direct debt because of O2....I have reclaimed it back and paid the arrears instead, so that is not the problem. But I can see the late payments on my credit file!? Will they stay there? Will I need to write to O2 to have them taken off? - as in my eyes it is THEIR fault, I gave them the details to take the payments, they didn't take them [enough funds in account].....

You need to write to O2 urgently demanding they write to the credit ratings agences immediately to correct the entries. If it's their mistake only they can have them removed (and should).0

They will. For six years. Will they stay there?
Credit Rating
How it works and how to improve it
It is absolutely unclear from your post what " re-set up my direct debit payment" actually was, and why you reclaimed £550. If it really was their fault, only they can make corrections to your credit files. I'd phone them first before writing. Will I need to write to O2 to have them taken off? - as in my eyes it is THEIR fault, I gave them the details to take the payments, they didn't take them [enough funds in account].....0 -
Sorry it's because I didn't want to waffle on and go into detail. Changed bank account it came out of, hence new direct debit. Indemnity claim - the £550 was because they ended my contract. BTW didn't receive anything by post or e-mail.
Oh and I have rang them, the representative said that they would automatically disappear in 30 to 60 days, I asked if that was an admittance of liability and that it why, but they said that is what happens when payments are late and then paid. She was very unhelpful. Hence why I Googled and then posted on here....0 -

She's definitely WRONG. Unless O2 remove it it'll stay on for 6 years and virtually stop you from any new credit facility and mobile contract etc etc. However, sounds like they may dispute whose fault it was. If changing bank account caused the error it may be the bank who has to confirm their mistake (if it WAS their mistake) to O2 before they would agree to remove it.0
