Missing Threads

Needing to reference a previous thread I did I search on my postings ( I had posted on the thread) I then realised that not only could I not find the thread but about 50 of my previous posts were missing!...also reflected in the number of posts I have made. As I don't look at my post count that regularly I don't know when this loss occured but my assumption is that it was during the upgrade.
A search shows there are quite a few references to missing threads. Have threads been deliberately deleted or just lost?
I also found out today I had acquired a new signature.. presumably just a glitch.
